This is a page I'm working on for my friend Mollie, who loves the Cardassians on DS9. She loved the book "A Stitch in Time" which concerns the history of Cardassia, and Elim Garak in particular. Derna, one of Bajor's moons is an important plot point in DS9 #151: "Image in the Sand" & #152: "Shadows and Symbols".
The interrogation that Joer Varc reports to Limor Prang involving a Bajoran and his young daughter is a veiled reference to
the back-story of Ro Laren; the first Bajoran seen in Star Trek. Though she's a Next Generation character, she's very
important to the ongoing DS9 story; she replaces Odo as chief of security in the post-DS9 novels, and is one of my favorite
Trek characters of all time. It's also worth noting that the role that eventually became Kira Nerys was originally meant to be filled
by Ro Laren, but Michelle Forbes (the actress that played the role) turned down the part, and Kira was written as a new
character to fill the void left in Ro's absence.
