I started reading novels by Anne Rice in 1991 when a friend (Jason Brooks) urged me to read "Interview With The Vampire", telling me I would love it! He was right. I bought a boxed set of the first three Vampire Chronicles - the only ones in existence at that time...& I devoured them. From there I read "The Feast Of All Saints" & the WONDERFUL "Cry To Heaven". To make a long story short...I read all of Anne Rice's work that I could get my hands on. I stopped reading her at 'Blood Canticle' in 2003, at which point she went in a new direction with her writing, and that's fine; I just prefer her older novels. I loved 'Interview' when I first read it, but I've never been able to finish it a second time. The ones I remember liking the best include "Cry to Heaven", "Exit to Eden", "The Vampire Lestat", "The Queen of the Damned", "The Witching Hour", "The Tale of the Body Thief", "Lasher", "Merrick" & "Blackwood Farm". I'd like to give "Violin" & "Blood Canticle" another chance too. And while I might not read her as often as I once did, for a little over a decade Anne Rice was a must have on my shelf.
