Bald Jason's Musings

   Sunday, August 21, 2011

I dropped Mark off on Saturday, came home, and I ate
(with no troubles so far) and I watched lots of stuff.

I watched 2 episodes of Chelsea Lately that I'd not seen,
which made me smile.

I watched "The Incredible Hulk", which was pretty good,
yet it felt like a sequel (which it's not); the stuff about the
Hulk's origins was featured in a confusing opening
montage. I read about the movie after it was over and they
cut about 70 minutes from the film, including a lot of
material relating to the Hulk's origins because test
audiences felt it was too much like 2003's Hulk
movie...but since this is a new continuity (which ties in
with the other MCU movies quite nicely) I feel it should
have been left in and I hope they release an extended cut
someday; the director has said he'd like to. As it stands I
think the correct order to see the Marvel Cinematic
Universe is as follows:

01 Captain America (skip post-credit scene)
02 Iron Man
03 Iron Man 2 (skip post credit scene)
04 The Incredible Hulk
05 Marvel One-Shot: Thor's Hammer
06 Thor
07 Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant
-- Captain America Post Credit Scene
08 The Avengers
09 Iron Man 3
10 Thor 2

I watched the 2 latest episodes of Torchwood: 4x06 "The
Middle Men" & 4x07 "Immortal Sins". Good episodes...but
now I have to wait for the final 3. Upcoming Whoniverse
episodes include:

08-26 Torchwood 4x08 End of the Road
08-27 Dr. Who 6x08 Let's Kill Hitler
09-02 Torchwood 4x09 The Gathering
09-03 Dr. Who 6x09 Night Terrors
09-09 Torchwood 4x10 The Blood Line (finale)
09-10 Dr. Who 6x10 The Girl Who Waited
09-17 Dr. Who 6x11 The God Complex
09-24 Dr. Who 6x12 Closing Time
10-01 Dr. Who 6x13 ??? (Season Finale)

I watched Scream 4. It was ok. It felt slightly tired...and
sort of pointless, yet it didn't really ruin the franchise or
anything...or make me interested in a Scream 5. I sort of
think they dropped the ball in some spots, yet it doesn't
seem to have any major plot holes like 3 did. I'm just not
sure I bought the killer or killers in this one...and it felt
sort of like a retread. It's still a good series of horror
movies with no really horrible entries.

I watched "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", which I loved.
I'm looking forward to seeing the other 2 films in that
trilogy and might rent them from Blockbuster today. We'll
see. I think Mark will like the first one at least.
