Bald Jason's Musings

About the last entry: Mark was being a dick, as I said. But the reason he was being a dick (and I knew this at the time before confronting him on it) was that he was stressed out about going to the doctor on Friday, and also about his day job, in which his boss has proved to be a complete moron. When I did talk to him later, and guessed correctly, he gave me a hug, and said that I know him all too well. lol

Since then, I've finished my Star Trek book and started the next. I'm rather enjoying the New Frontier this time, which is fantastic because there are like 15 books in that series, and I have them all. I also finished watching the first season of Ugly Betty, which had quite the cliffhanger.

On Saturday, Mark showed me how to take "The Ride": the local public transportation system. It was fun, if a bit confusing. I've never really used anything like that, except the subways and things while on vacation. I'm kind of excited about knowing how it all works and stuff. A very handy tool, which most people probably take for granted, and I've just never caught on to, as I have no common sense. Also, I've always had a car, and still do, but with gas being so expensive this seems like a sensible alternative. ;-0)

Later, Mark installed a double layer dvd burner in my computer, which seems to work wonders. Now I can burn home movies and stuff for my friends. Yay ;-0)

I slept for several hours, and then woke Mark up as well, so we could watch the latest installment of Doctor Who. The episode "Human Nature" was fantastic, and is part I of II. I have all these theories running around in my head about what is actually going on in the episode, and the episode to come. The episode we've seen was filled with continuity to episodes past, making this one my favorite episode of the season. If part II is as good as part I that would be really great. :-0)

I still believe that Season 1 of the new Doctor Who is my favorite; it holds together so well! Season 2 had some flaws along the way, but some real gems, including my favorite episode of the series: "The Girl In The Fireplace". The season ended with a bang, that very nearly broke my heart in two. The 2nd Christmas Special, Torchwood Season 1, and the Sarah Jane Adventures pilot episode were welcome additions to the Whoniverse, but Season 3, much like Season 2, has been a rather mixed bag for me. The first 3 episodes ("Smith & Jones", "The Shakespear Code" & "Gridlock") had moments that I loved, but there was nothing outstanding about them. The 4th & 5th episodes ("Daleks in Manhattan" & "Evolution of the Daleks"), while looking great, with very cool special effects, were dreadful, and are easily my least favorite episodes of the new Whoniverse. The 6th & 7th episodes ("The Lazarus Experiment" & "42") got better and better, but were still just average kind of episodes with a moment or two of greatness. This new episode though, felt like the start of something amazing; I hope it lasts. There are only 5 more episodes this season: "The Family of Blood", "Blink", "Utopia", "The Sound of Drums" & "Last of the Time Lords"; I have high hopes for all of them now. :-0)
