Bald Jason's Musings

   Saturday, March 22, 2008

I went back and checked some things online and then checked bits of the episode. There is a flaw in the episode, which might not be a flaw - they're notorious on Torchwood for giving us bits of information at a time, and there are so many ways they could explain this bit that it just doesn't bother me, because they got so much of it very right!

The other thing that struck me is that some of the references to time, seem to suggest that this season of Torchwood is spread over a rather large period of time. There are 13 episodes this season. Episodes 1-3 all take place in early June, but the recent episode seems like it would have to take place around April 2009? Or maybe I'm screwing up my math? I've not had a lot of sleep, and I'm not good with numbers on a regular day. Either way, I need to think this out... And I need to work out how the season plays out some more. But these kinds of puzzles are fun for me. :-0)

Hey, I am watching Torchwood now... I think in the clip from Jack in 1999 Torchwood on the table in the back of the scene you can see the Dr.'s hand... but should Jack have it by then? I don't think so... maybe I am wrong.

Nope - you're right. They also show it in the 2005 (Owen) section. That's the flaw that I saw in the episode. But there are a million sci-fi explanations for how the hand could end up there. We don't see Torchwood recover the hand on Christmas 2006, or thereafter, so it could be time travel related; maybe they've had the hand for a very long time as a result. Or maybe that isn't the Doctor's hand at all, but someone else's, which gets replaced by the Doctor's when Jack finds it? My point is, that though it's a suggestion of a flaw, there's enough that we don't know about the incident that they have some wiggle room, so I consider it a minor thing. And actually, they could do a really cracking episode now about how they came to possess the Doctor's hand in that timeframe. "The Hand of Time" I'd call it. :-0)

Yes you did; you've come a long way where the Doctor Whoniverse is concerned! I haven't done any Easter stuff. I've been feeling kind of crappy today. But I'm ok with that. I read the blog and posted a reply.
