So...the last 2 months have been so taxing. I helped see my friend Kevin through the last of his illness (though I wasn't the only one), and then there was the funeral, and all the emotional crap to go through after that. Mark created a page dedicated to him; check it out.I've been better. I haven't been getting any work done on my spoken word projects; the muse just isn't calling to me. I miss Darla. I was looking forward to seeing my friends in Virginia for Halloween, but we can't make it out there. My hours have been seriously cut at work because the store is so dead this time of year; it will pick up around the holidays, but 'till then I'm screwed. I'm only scheduled for 5 hours this week, and those hours are on a day that I requested off (and was approved for); I thought my manager was pissed at me or something (which is weird all on it's own), but then I noticed that hours were cut across the board. It sucks.
Last night I went to the Necto because my friend Matt was in town, from Bowling Green, Ohio. It was nice to see him, though I was very tired, and my throat was kind of sore. It was nice to see Robert, back at Necto, but I wish things had worked out for him in Paris. I saw a lot of people I knew there actually, which was all good, but I freaking hate Fridays at Necto; the music just sucks beyond the telling of it. I met Matt's friends: Emmy/Emily, Val, Nate [N8], & Rob who were all great; especially Nate who blushed all too easily. Matt has the coolest friends (or strangers, depending on which ones he actually knows). I told Val about my webpage & I hope she goes there: http://wwww.gothboy.com
I'm going to a free concert at the West Park Bandshell in Ann Arbor today; one of my friend's bands is playing, and it's for a good cause: donations go to H.A.R.C. (the HIV/AIDS Research Center). After that I work.
I had the best dreams last night, this morning. ;-0)
Tomorrow night, Sunday October 17, I'll get to see my friends from L.A., whom I met a few months ago and had loads of fun with; they are playing the Blind Pig with the rest of their band. Anyone that can make it should go; they are really awesome. When I heard they were in a band I really wasn't impressed; most people I've known that were in bands, I've supported them, but to be honest, I just haven't really loved any of their bands, until this one. Check out their webpage: http://www.hypnogaja.com
And here's info on The Blind Pig for anyone that wants to go (the band is on at 11pm): http://www.motorcityrocks.com/pig.htm

Ooof!
ouch. Maybe I should go back to bed. http://www.gothboy.com is my webpage. Mark pointed that out to me, as I inserted one too many W's in the last post. Also, (why is my brain so strange?) after reading my post again, I realized I was unclear about something. I do miss Darla, but...I've grown accustomed over the years to not seeing her, so what I really miss is being on good terms with her, which is maybe a finer point. When we didn't see each other before it was almost like we did still see each other, because there was always the thought that maybe we'd hang out or run into each other... and now I'm not sure how she'd react to me. I miss knowing that if I saw Darla I'd get a hug and a smile. That's what I miss. The feeling of knowing Darla in that context.

I carved pumpkins for the first time in at least 20 years and the two depicted above are the result of my labor; I did 1 the old fashioned way, and the other with a pattern. They turned out pretty good I think, but unfortunately the demonic squirrels that live near our condo (some have been mistaken for dogs) thought that pumpkin sounded like a good dinner choice and my Halloween decorations have been all but destroyed. Thankfully we took pictures.
The old fashioned one, and the Vampire Pattern one that I carved, along with the aftermath of the squirrel attack, and the "Bush Sucks"/Scary Face Jacks carved by Mark & Mollie can be seen here.
