Bald Jason's Musings

I haven't written in a while. I've thought about it; I just haven't felt like writing, I suppose.
Less than an hour ago I finished reading Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows. Best book in the series; really explained a lot; probably the best ending possible. I'm trying not to write any spoilers in here, so I guess I'll just let it be said that I really enjoyed this series of books, and I look forward to re-reading the series a few more times, and seeing the upcoming movie adaptations.
Speaking of which, I saw Harry Potter 5 last week, and I thought it was the best film in the series so far, and a wonderful adaptation of the book. For those of you who are wondering, I feel that as films, the movies get better as they go (so far), but as adaptations, I feel the 3rd film is terrible: having gutted the emotional center of the book, and filling the breach with random nonsense.
I'm visiting with my ex-gf Catherine today, and her son Avery. I should get some sleep, but I'm waiting for Mollie to call me back. She was reading the last chapter when I called, and I can't really beilieve she's still reading it. I'm guessing she's trying to recover a bit before calling me; it's quite an emotional book. I think I teared up twice, maybe 3 times.
I'm going to get out of my room, and have a snack or something.

My phone rang at 2:34am. I assumed it was Mollie, as she doesn't sleep most nights because of her job. It was my older sister Janice; she never calls me this late/early. She just got a call from our mother. Our grandparents barn is gone. Burnt to the ground. No one knows how it started; possibly electrical, which I could believe. I'd go out there now, but the road is blocked off, and I'm not sure they'd let me through. I'll probably go tomorrow. I never intended to go in that barn again, but when I was little I had such great times in there. I sang Kilroy Was Here with Box in there. I led the infamous Water War. Oh, and I had lots of sex. And it's gone now. I'm oddly numb to that. I don't think I'll miss the inside, so much as that space not being taken up.
