Late Friday night I went to the Elbow room to see my friend Elvis play. My stomach had finally calmed down, and as that's the exception and not the rule of late, I figured that I needed to make a break for the outside world while I could, only I was exhausted. Being sick is exhausting, and it was passed my bedtime, but I showered and shaved and dressed and drove out to Ypsi to see my friends. I knew that my friend Box's band was playing but that I'd probably miss the show, as the hour was already late, but I knew Elvis's band (Chapstick) was going on last, probably around 1am. I did get to see Elvis play, and part of Broadzilla's set. Box's band, Mazinga, had already wrapped up though. I did get to see and talk to Box, Elvis, and Box's wife Theresa, who was smashed, but is always good to see. I also saw Melanie(?); a proper ghost from the past; haven't seen her in like 12 years or something like that; maybe longer. But she remembered me. I also ran into people I knew from Aut Bar, and Hollywood Video. I had fun.

I got home around 4am, and slept. I was ill again for much of Saturday, but I kept my spirits up. I played Spyro 3, chatted with Michael, and downloaded BSG & Doctor Who. I went to work to return movies, get my shedule and talk to DJ. It's always good to see my coworkers. Always. Later, I stayed up again, to watch Doctor Who & BSG with Mark. Doctor Who was good, but it's part one of two, and while it was a good begginning, that's sort of all that it was. There was nothing wrong with it; and it was smart and all that, but it was unfinished, and it's just packed with questions that are left unanswered for now, which makes the episode high quality, but extremely unsatisfying on it's own. This is why TV on DVD is so much cooler than watching it as it airs. BSG's sound was all fucked up, so we postponed the viewing while we downloaded another copy (which will hopefully work - we haven't watched it yet).

When Battlestar Galactica Version 2 was done downloading, Mark was asleep. I read a bit, and then I went to sleep as well. I woke up a few times this morning, but got back to sleep fairly easily. I had intended to go to The Blind Pig last night, for a monthly event that they hold called "The Bang", which I've been invited too several times, but have never attended. Box & T go and really enjoy it, plus they tell me the crowd (which is actually crowded) is very inclusive, so that's cool, but with my stomach in wonky land, and Mark wanting to watch the tv shows with me, and me being tired from everything...I just stayed in, and today I think that was the best thing for me really. I wish I could have gone, but I don't regret staying home.

I'm scheduled to work tonight, and right now I feel fine. I just had a snack, and I feel fine, which is even better. I hope it lasts.

About TV on DVD versus watching it as it airs on TV. My friend DJ, fell in love with BSG a short time ago. He loves Battlestar more than anyone else that I know! And I've heard it through the grapevine, though he hasn't told me this, that he feels like the series has lost it's way in it's final season... Which I can understand him thinking, but for me, I feel like it's just... DJ & I watched the first 3 seasons of BSG in quick succession, with little to no waiting between installments, so you kind of get the bigger picture delivered to you. But when you watch a series as it airs, you're left wondering in between installments, which allows you to question every little detail, which is maddening...plus you're not getting the instant gratification that comes with seeing the next installment right away... Which is tough with BSG as the series is extremely serialized, and will most likely not have any kind of real closure until the series ends next year, and even then, I doubt it will wrap up everything. These writers were some of the heavy hitters behind DS9's finale, so I think I know what I'm talking about. If you watch DS9's finale, it wraps up & speaks to an enormous amount of continuity and character developement - but there's a lot of questions after the final curtain, with a lot of potential left unexplored, because there was no way to cover all that; it was impossible - and life doesn't allow for everything to be wrapped up either, so it's kind of expected that a show shouldn't do that either. I got off course here, didn't I? Suffice it to say, that watching BSG (or Doctor Who or whatever ongoing series you want to name) as it airs is a lot less satisfying than watching it all in one day or one week. It just is.

I just finished the Joey Stefano book. Sad. It's weird, reading about dead people, because you know that they are going to die at the end, which brings everything into focus, and yet you (or should I say I?) want the hero of the story to be ok... He was just 26 years old when he died. And, I learned that I had pictures of him up in my bedroom at my parents' home when I lived there...he was in Madonna's SEX book, which I'd plastered around my room; he was on the ceiling, and I never realized it was him, even though I'd seen him in a video or two. Odd. Leaves me feeling melancholy.

My stomach still feels fine though, which is nice. I need to eat again soon though, which is always worrisome...

I miss Mollie.

Work went fine Sunday night. All was good. I called Jordan after work and made plans for Monday, as he's going out of state for 2 weeks and I haven't seen him in about 3 already. I went to the bank, and Kroger. I made tentitive plans with Michael for Wednesday. I got home...and then things started to suck. My stomach started freaking out again. Shocker. Yeah. I know. I took my tummy pill Monday morning, after not sleeping all night, and all but cancelled my plans with Jordan, who I think is probably pissed at me, but that can't be helped.

I slept all Monday, and felt almost normal by Monday night.

There was some interesting Torchwood Series 3 news online. There have been only 5 episodes greenlit for the season, which will form a mini-series that airs over 1 week, though it's possible that more episodes will follow. The five part story will be the first to feature a new head writer, and will also have to deal with the loss of 2 major cast members...within a huge format change. Sounds interesting, risky, and I hope this mini-series leads to longer seasons for the show.

I stayed in Monday night and read. My Cardassian Reading Project had hit a snag. There are some continuity problems, that stem (as far as I can tell) not from the stories themselves, but from a timeliners guide, that I'm hoping is in error, but since the guide is wrong I have to do a lot more reading to fix it, so I'm working on that now. The bright side of that, is that I'm reading the Garak book ("A Stitch in Time") again, trying put all these puzzle pieces together. :-0)

I slept a bit Tuesday morning. I'm awake for sure now. I'm trying to put some mashups in order. Mark is home, trying to fix some drama with our phones I think. We also had a flat tire, which our car company came out and took care of, though there was more drama there relating to what they'd done last time we had a tire problem. Mark seems a bit stressed, so I made sure to give him hugs. ;-0)

What a hellish week!?! lol

There were some good things that happened. Work was fun this week. I got to see Michael. I got to see Jordan. I got to see my coworkers. I finally got to watch BSG with Mark, which rocked, and we'll watch the penultimate episode this year, later today.

Tuesday night I went to Aut Bar to see Jordan. My friend Robert was there, visiting from Chicago, so that was a treat. My ex-bf Franklin was there as well, which was also nice. When I got home, Mark told me that there was some more drama, and now we were without internet service, which pretty much killed my plans for Wednesday. Jordan stayed the night. I had a horrible headache (been having a lot of those this week), but my meds killed it, and we were able to get some sleep. Michael came over later on Wednesday, and copied a bunch of stuff and played. It was all good. Mark was late getting home from work that night...and when Michael went to leave his car had died!?! Mark drove Michael home, as my stomach was starting to get upset.

My stomach was upset all Wednesday night, and into the morning hours of Thursday, but I felt better later on...and the internet returned as well. Mark & I went to the comic shop, whole foods, and Barnes & Noble (where I got the latest American issue of Doctor Who Magazine). Mark & I picked up Michael, who was visiting with his friend Chris, and I invited Chris over as well. We played video games, and chatted, while Michael copied BSG & Firefly. I was exhausted, and went to bed just before they left. I read the new issue of Buffy, which was the final issue of the 'Wolves at the Gate' storyline, and it rocked...probably my favorite arc of the new series.

After crawling into bed, exhausted, Thursday night...the Central Air DIED. And it was so hot I couldn't sleep. It was hell. Next day, Mark & I had some miscommunications and he left for work, shortly befor I had to leave for work, leaving me without a ride, having had little to zero sleep, in our increasingly inferno like condo. I needed new razors, and my face showed it. I was late for work. My stomach was hurling stuff. But it was all good. You know how it is when so much is going wrong that you just have to deal and move on? That was this week in a nutshell.

So after work I went to the bank, and to get some food before picking up Mark. After waiting for an hour for Mark to get out of work late, we went to Meijer where I got razors, Man Perfume, underwear, socks and chips. We were going to buy a fan or something, but Michael said he had a window air conditioning unit and 2 fans we could use, so we went there, after stopping at home to get some stuff that Michael will need to continue working for Mark. We ended up staying there far longer than I expected, still having not slept. Blah. It was nice to see Michael though. Chris showed up just before we left, but before that, I called my ex-bf Paul, who lives near by, only he was in Saginaw, and so he couldn't save me from my boredon; he says we can hang out this weeks sometime...

When we got home we had to get all our stuff in the house. We had to move everyhing away from my bedroom window (which is NOT easy or conveniant) only to find that it wouldn't fit in my window. We tried setting it up in the bathroom, but that didn't work out for other reasons. Jordan wanted me to meet him at Necto so I could meet his friends, and see him before he left for Florida today...and I needed to get ready fast...so we just set up the fans, and tabled the AC until I could return home.

I shaved with my new razors; wore new underwear and socks, and freshly laundered clothing. I was feeling like the day was finally turning around, even though I was still really tired. I met Jordan at Necto, and met his friends Rachel & Mitchell, who were both cute and fun... I said hello to Becky, DJ Jinx, and chatted with Hal, an old aquaintence of mine, while I waited for my drinks. I bought a screwdriver for Jordan, and ordered 3 Cream Bombs for myself, as they're cheaper to buy them in 3's. Then I gave one of the Cream Bombs to Mitchell, who's 21 or 22, and asked his friend Rachel to hold one of my drinks so I could put my wallet away...only as soon as I did this a bouncer threw me out for buying the girl, who's underage, a drink. The thing is, I can see how he'd think that's what was going on, because there was a drink for everyone, but I was going to drink both of those (I usually drink all 3), but then when I explained he refused to believe me and I was ejected from the club, not even having been able to drink my drinks. I want a fucking refund.

By now I had a killer migrain. It had started at Michael's place, and gotten worse all night, despite me having had taken some pain killer. We went to Aut Bar, where we stayed for the remainder of the night. We drank, and met some people. It was mostly fun. ;-0)

Jordan came home with me, and left his car at Aut Bar. When I got home, Mark & I set up the AC in Mark's window, and then put the fans in my room. Jordan and I survived the heat somehow, though it was nearly impossible to sleep for very long. Still, it was great seeing him, and I drove him back to his car this morning. By the time I had gotten home there was a text from him; he'd gotten a parking ticket, as the Farmer's Market was in full swing when I dropped him off! Bad - BAD week.

And I didn't even mention all the drama and hassle Marke went through trying to get someone to come fix our air conditioning. The place that we've been paying to cover us, doesn't. Waste of cash. Then there was this number we had from before, but they don't do AC anymore. Mark called this other place, but the soonest they could come is this Thursday. Finally he found a place that is supposedly coming out tomorrow. Nice.

Anyways...that's what's been going on. I'm gonna attempt to get some sleep... Later, Mark & I are gonna clear a patch to our Central Air Unit so that the repair men can fix it tomorrow. Also gonna watch BSG, and hopefully Doctor Who as well... And probably work on this Cardassian / Bajoran timeline thingy I've been working on for Mollie. Wish me luck. ;-0)

I got some sleep. I ate. Which I'm thinking was a mistake now, as more than 3 quarters of my not so large meal (I gave Mark some of it as I wasn't feeling well) has already returned. Ick. I really need something to make this stop. I can't stress enough how much I need this to stop.

Just finished the new Doctor Who about 10 minutes ago. It's the best episode this season by far, though we've had no really horrible episodes this season, for which I'm grateful. This new one, there were many things that I had guessed ahead of time, but there were a few twists that I didn't, and even some of the things that I saw coming still affected me emotionally - and some of the CRUEL TWISTS really dug in deep. There was a wonderful bit of continuity with "Planet of the Ood"!!! And I got all teary eyed in a couple of spots.

Rating the season thus far:

* = Daleks in Manhattan bad
** = muddled, but almost watchable
*** = average fun, nothing special
**** = better than most
***** = perfection

4x01 Partners in Crime ***
4x02 The Fires of Pompeii ****
4x03 Planet of the Ood ***
4x04 The Sontaran Stratagem (1) ***
4x05 The Poison Sky (2) ***
4x06 The Doctor's Daughter (3) ***
4x07 The Unicorn & the Wasp ****
4x08 Silence in the Library (1) ****
4x09 Forest of the Dead (2) *****

to compare to last year:

3x01 Smith and Jones **
3x02 The Shakespeare Code ****
3x03 Gridlock ***
3x04 Daleks in Manhattan (1) *
3x05 Evolution of the Daleks (2) *
3x06 The Lazarus Experiment ***
3x07 42 ***
3x08 Human Nature (1) ****
3x09 The Family of Blood (2) *****

I can't wait for Mollie to see these last 2 episodes! ;-0)
