Bald Jason's Musings
Sunday, February 1, 2009
I can't believe it's February already.
I chatted briefly this morning; saw Trevor online; he was interested, but it was too late; he said he should have called me, and I agreed. I chatted with Caleb on yahoo; he seems nice. Hopefully all goes well.
I looked for my "Thief of Always" book for Mollie to borrow, but I can't find it anywhere. I did find some of my old favorites, which made me wonder if I shouldn't read some of those this year, though I've read them before? I'm still considering it.
It's been over a week since I shaved; I feel like Grizzly Adams. Argh. Now I have the theme song stuck in my head. Frak.
Bald Jason sings:
"Deep inside the forsest is a door into another land; here is our life and home; we are staying here forever in the beauty of this place all alone..." blah blah blah.
I loved that show as a kid. I probably saw every episode (not that there were that many) except for the movie that tied it all up, which I fell asleep during, but I remember my mother being all emotional about. Kind of like when the Hulk died at the end of that show (during the aptly titled "Death of the Incredible Hulk"), and my Aunt Martha being upset about it. I remember that movie having this rather sad music at the end "And Something Ends"; I'd like to have that. Ahh. Hokey tv classics and their music that haunts me.

I'm taking my tax info to my older sister (Janice) at her church this morning, as that's about half way between here and her home in Adrian. The church service starts at 9am. I'm going to try to be there by 8:30am. Then I'm going to the bank, and go grocery shopping. That's my plan anyways.
I had a headache. I took some midrin. Been taking it a lot the last few days. I feel all spacey. I was going to shave before I left, but I've decided that I like the look of it for now. I've also been pretty critical of my weight the last few weeks, but I really looked at myself in the mirror and decided I like the way the weight looks on me. It's a nice kind of morning.
I watched some more Ally; just 2 episodes left. It's an odd sort of season. It's probably very good that they ended it when they did. I used to think that this season of Ally really jumped the shark, and there are signs that it had, but it holds itself together fairly well. Better than many other shows probably would have. Thankfully Battlestar Galactica hasn't even come close to that this season - it's actually starting to feel like a true pay off for all the previous seasons - and that's awesome. But I'm still slightly warry, as ALIAS starting kicking ass again right before the end, and the failed miserably. Again, hopefully that won't happen here. I'm anxious to see all of Six Feet Under, and to get into LOST. Hopefully those shows won't burn me either.

I drove out to the church, and saw multiple family members and old church friends. It's weird going there. They always want me to stay, and it's tempting because I love those people and I know that they care about me, but they have this insidious message about how I'm sinning by being gay - and though the message is that we're all sinners, I'm supposed to apologise for being gay and that will never happen. I can only imagine what my gay relatives go through there. Or I don't have to imagine it, because I went through it myself. Then add to that not being a believer and it just gets worse.
Still. It was nice to see people.
Then I went to Hillards for water (4 cases), the bank, Kroger for groceries. I went over my budget a little, but I can afford it this week, I think. Hopefully. And I didn't even get all that I wanted. Blah.
I came home. Brought in all the stuff. Chatted with Mark. Then watched the final 2 episodes of Ally. A good ending to a mostly great series. The final season was a bit off, but it wasn't terrible. The final episode featured flashbacks from Season 1, 2 & 4 (I think), and it was amazing to see how different the characters looked, even though for me it's really only been a few weeks since I saw them looking that way.
After the Ally fest, I looked at some e-mail. There was this one open request for someone to help identify some of the more obscure villains from the final season of JLU, which was kind of a treat for me as I studied all those villains when the show was airing...just for my own benefit, and now I was able to name those characters (who are never named on screen, and hardly every appear) without much effort at all.

I downloaded some mashups this morning; the first new ones in MONTHS. I just haven't had any luck finding good ones lately, and bam! I found 3 GREAT ones, and several ok ones as well. So these GREAT ones were like party music; really upbeat and I just had to dance. I thought I was being good; I wore headphones and just rocked out, but apparently my movements were pretty loud and Mark came in my room (scaring the HELL out of me) to get some ear plugs. lol. Oh well. He really didn't need them after that as he scared me so much I had to stop. But I got a really good work out. ;-0)

I just watched last week's Smallville episode, "Power". This season of Smallville is amazing. The show has never been this good. Creatively, it's on fire. If you'd told me last year at this time that the show would improve this much, I wouldn't have believed it. Season 7 was just barely watchable. I thought for sure it would be cancelled, and I felt it deserved to be. If the series ends this season, I'm sure it will go out in style. If it continues for another season, I'm not sure that will be the case...but these new old writers have given the series new life, and I'm grateful.

I slept well. Woke up around 10:30pm. I shaved. I showered. I got ready for the bar and left shortly after Mark got home. Some of my bar friends were supposed to be there, but after scoping around for an hour, I texted and they said they'd just left, which means we were there at the same time, or the girl in question lied, which is honestly what I'm leaning towards. I had a blast without them anyways. I danced a lot. Saw some old friends. Made some new friends. Danced next to some hot gay guys, and flirted with a cute boy who turned out to be way too young for me. Oh. And Becky, the bartender who gives me free drinks wasn't there, so I paid $7.00 (with tip) for a drink! Ugh. But Scott (the manager) showed up later and got me 4 more drinks for free ;-0) Drunk...was...me.
I came home when the music turned lame and the djs started doing the too much talking thing, which was 9 minutes after 2am. I stripped. I chatted with Mark. Chatted on line and had a snack. Then showered the sweat and smoke off. I read some BSG related articles (Friday can't come soon enough), and wrote this.
I'm thinking of re-reading the Robotech series; there are 21 books in the series, but I love them. I might start watching Six Feet Under this week. We'll see.

I started watching "Six Feet Under"; rewatching the pilot. I saw the first 2 seasons, probably around 2003. I then decided I'd wait until the final season was released before I continued, but by the time that happened I no longer knew what the fuck was going on. I've actually seen the pilot episode twice before this morning, so I was more familiar with it than any other episode, but it still made me laugh out loud a few times, and sigh dramatically in others. Good television. And now I can finally watch the entire series. ;-0)
I knew that I got 'Six Feet Under' for a bargain price at $59.99, but I didn't realize how much of a bargain! I was just scanning Amazon, and to buy only Season 1, it's $39.98! And I got 4 more seasons (and 2 soundtracks) for just $20.01 more! Then I looked at the regular boxed set price (which is what I bought), and I had assumed the set was something like $140.00, and it turns out it's actually $179.90! Meaning, I saved $119.91!!!!! Wow. No buyer's remorse at all now. Go me!!! :0)
Someday I'll be able to watch all of Battlestar Galactica / Caprica. Assuming I live that long.

I read some more Robotech. Actually, I went to the final volume in the series and read all the stuff that takes place before book one (which isn't cheating for me as I've already read the whole 21 book series before) - then read another chapter of the first book. It's ironic that I've decided to reread these books now, as the section that I'm reading currently; where the story really begins, is set in 2009.
I also finished the first disc of Six Feet Under. That's only 3 episodes total. Still got 60 more to go. If I were to watch a disc a day, I'd finish the entire series in less than a month. I'm not saying that's going to happen; I'm just throwing that out there.
I just read a new interview (with annoying comments) with Jane Espenson about BSG, Dollhouse, Buffy & Caprica. It was ok, but didn't really shed any light on anything that important to me at this juncture, like the final 7 BSG episodes, or the movie "The Plan", which she wrote.
I feel like I should be sleeping. I've only slept 2 hours since I woke up last night before the bar. Whatever.

I dug out all my old Robotech books. Then I bought new copies of the ones that were available new on amazon (using a $10.00 gift certificate I'd been saving, to help with the cost). Then I looked at my old copies and picked out the 3 most in need of replacement and ordered new copies off half.com. I'd have started replacing all of them, but I don't have the cash right now. 2 of those copies I'm replacing are actually falling apart, both from age and wear and tear - but also, I didn't take very good care of them when I was in middle-school. I'm enjoying the rereading, and the taking care of the series.

Yesterday:
I read more Robotech. I ordered more Robotech. I ate. I slept. I watched another episode of Six Feet Under. I got Mark off to work around the time he usually leaves, expecting that he could just drop off Mollie's package at the UPS place (which when we drop stuff off there, we don't have to wait in line) - only he'd boxed it up for the post office and had to wait in line for 25 minutes, making him late for work. Not late by much, but anytime he's late it worries me.
I worked on my webpage a bit. I set up a page explaining how BSG is even more fun the 2nd time around because of all the character and plot revelations that change how you view the series. I can't really go in depth with the page yet though because there are still 7 more installments, plus "The Plan", which will surely effect the older episodes.
I went to bed around 4:30pm and woke up shortly before Mark got home from work, around midnight. I had a dream about my ex-gf Jennifer. I called her and left her a voicemail about it. I've not spoken to her in over a year; the longest we've gone without communicating since we met in early 1995. I've left her 20-30 messages in that time. She left me one on my birthday, but I got the impression that she was deliberately avoiding me, and I'm not sure why that is, but it hurts me.
Mark got home and we talked for a bit. Something's bothering him, but he's not telling me because he doesn't want to stress me out, which is sweet...but it makes me worry for him. It would actually probably be a lot worse if he told me, so I appreciate his thoughtfullness...but I worry about him just the same.
I'm making cookies. Yum. I might have to give them up soon, so I figured I'd have some while I can still enjoy them.
I tried watching the new Batman animated series...Batman: The Brave & the Bold. It's horrible. I can't stand it. It's not for me. It makes "The Batman" series look classic by comparison, and I didn't love that show either. I've had friends tell me that I'd love both of those shows, but they simply don't understand my attraction to characters in general. The thing about Batman, is that I like my characters to be complex and have a sprawling mythology. I've already had that with Batman: The Animated Series and it's multiple spin-offs. I'll probably never have that again, but that Batman will always be my Batman. This is probably why I have a hard time embracing Christian Bale's recent Batman appearances; because he pales in comparison to his animated counterpart.
Going back to the Robotech books I've purchased, I'll now have new copies of all the original 12 novels, plus 2 newer copies of 2 of the later novels. The Robotech series of novels (much like the series they're based on) have an interesting publishing history. The first 12 books of the series comprise the tv series Robotech, which is split into 3 generations. The first 6 books cover the First Generation. Books 7-9 cover the Second Generation. Books 10-12 cover the Third Generation. Robotech was meant to have a 2nd Season, called "The Sentinels", which would have picked up the story between the first 2 generations and explained where the main characters from the First Generation went to during the other stories, while setting up other storylines; ending at the same point in time as the Third Generation, but from a different perspective. For various reasons the 2nd season of Robotech wasn't finished, and the first few finished episodes were cobbled together for release. The authors of the first 12 Robotech books took the scripts for the 2nd season and injected them with their own ideas (just as they had the first season) and wrote a 5 book series "Robotech: The Sentinels" numbered 1-5. Then they wrote a 'final' book in the series that wrapped up both seasons, "Robotech #18: The End of the Circle". There were still some major time gaps between certain books, so 3 more books were written to fill those gaps (which are among my favorites): "Robotech #19: The Zentraedi Rebellion", "Robotech #20: The Masters' Gambit" & "Robotech #21: Before The Invid Storm" - the last one came out in 1996, which is when I read the entire series through the last time.
Now if you read the books in chronological order as I do, then the order goes like this:
Robotech:
#01 Genesis (1st Gen)
#02 Battlecry (1st Gen)
#03 Homecoming (1st Gen)
#04 Battle Hymn (1st Gen)
#05 Force of Arms (1st Gen)
#06 Doomsday (1st Gen)
#19 The Zentraedi Rebellion (Lost Gen)
The Sentinels:
#01 The Devil's Hand
#02 Dark Powers
#03 Death Dance
#04 World Killers
#05 Rubicon
Robotech:
#20 The Masters' Gambit (Lost Gen)
#07 Southern Cross (2nd Gen)
#08 Metal Fire (2nd Gen)
#09 The Final Nightmare (2nd Gen)
#21 Before the Invid Storm (Lost Gen)
#10 Invid Invasion (3rd Gen)
#11 Metamorphosis (3rd Gen)
#12 Symphony of Light (3rd Gen)
#18 The End of the Circle (Lost Gen)Confusing huh? Well to make it just a bit more confusing, a few years later some of the novels were released in 3-in-1 volumes. The First Generation (split into 2 volumes), the first 3 books of the Sentinels, and then the 2nd Generation were all released in this format.
Then a few years ago, they released another set of 3-in-1 volumes. This time they did the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations (the original 12 novels) - with new covers for the ones that had been released in this fashion previously.
This has raised the prices in most markets for the other 9 volumes.
See how this becomes complicated very quickly. And the thing is, I didn't buy a lot of the reprints, because I stupidly expected them to release the series in chronological order someday. Which still hasn't happened, and most likely never will. Oh well. Now that I've been ordering them I'll have new copies or the original 12, plus 2 of the others. I have passable reading copies of all the books, but I could use new copies of some of the other volumes and I'll probably try to get my hands on some of them at some point.
Blah.

The 1st trailer for the 3rd Season of Torchwood should be available online sometime in the next day or so. Hopefully. :-0)
It's been revealed that K9 will be in about half of the 3rd Season of The Sarah Jane Adventures. This makes me wonder if David Tennant will be appearing as well, as supposedly he was supposed to appear last season and take K9 away with him for some reason.
Doctor Who will face new villians in the upcoming specials; villains such as the Tritovore. The 10th Doctor will also once again cross paths with Martha Jones.

OMJ. Oh My Joss! They're releasing the unrated pilot to CAPRICA on DVD 1 month and 1 day after the finale of BSG!!!! I actually read that this morning, but assumed it was a hoax. lol But apparently it's not. Very cool. April 21. That's about 2 months before BSG: The Plan will air (supposedly). More BSG themed goodness. Thank you! Hopefully I like it. This seems like a really smart idea. This way fans get a taste...and the show runners get a BUNCH of feedback from the people that matter so they can see what they got right and what needs clearing up.

I went to bed around 6pm. I woke up around midnight. I'm still excited about "Caprica" coming to DVD. We'll actually get another Doctor Who Special between the end of BSG and the release of Caprica; "Planet of the Dead" is said to air around Easter, which is April 12 this year.
I talked to Mollie on the phone. Her boytoy's mom doesn't like her; thinks she's too old for him. Kenny's cleaning out the fridge, with many grunts and gasps. Mollie is upset with Walmart for not carrying a certain volume of anime...and planning on buying a new computer either this week or next week. She'll also hopefully get the dvds we sent her soon.
I might go back to bed.

Right when I'd told myself I was going to go back to not spending any money on books, something happened to change my mind. Back when I was in High School I read these sort of silly but fun teenybopper books. I read a lot of other stuff too, but I enjoyed the kind of teen angst books too, even while I laughed at myself for reading them. In 1991 I read these 3 books called "The Vampire Diaries", which were quick reads, that made me laugh and cry and I enjoyed them for exactly what they were. These books were promoted as a trilogy, but they did so well that a 4th volume was released in 1992, which I snapped up and enjoyed as much as the first 3 (though there was a slight continuity flub, which was never explained away - though it could be rather easily). After they'd done a 4th one I kind of expected more, and anytime I've seen the books in stores I've looked to see if more had been released, but there hadn't been. Actually, about a year ago I was at Borders and I thought I saw a new one, but it was just the old books with new covers, and combined into 2 volumes instead of 4. I guess what happened was that the Twilight books were doing so well that they repackaged the Vampire Diaries to capitalize on that success and it worked - with the Vampire Diaries jumping on to the bestseller lists. This inspired them to order 3 new books in the series, the first of which comes out on Tuesday in hardcover (the original 4 were all paperbacks). And, the CW Network has ordered a pilot script based on the books. Wacky. Also, I just found my old first edition copies of the books when I was getting my Robotech books out and thought I might reread those too. Now I'm planning on reading the whole series again, and continuing in the 5th. I find this all rather amusing. Maybe I'll get around to reading those Twilight books too, as I now have a reason to be grateful for them.
My doc appointment is at 12:45pm.
11 hours from now I'll hopefully be getting ready to watch the new Battlestar Galactica, 4x15: "Blood on the Scales".

I just read an article that suggests that April's release of Caprica might mean that Battlestar Galactica: The Plan might not air until the fall of 2009. Hopefully this isn't true, as in many ways I'm looking forward to The Plan more than I'm looking forward to the end of the series. Erg.
Mark is in the shower; he's going to my doc appointment with me, as I want someone there to ask more questions, and when I do (if I do) have the surgery, Mark will be the one taking care of me.

Good news! If a bit confusing. Last time I went to my doc it was to tell her how great the pills I'd been prescribed were working for me, and how much they'd changed my life...only to be told that I couldn't continue to take the pills, and that my best bet was a surgery involving them injecting botox into the bottom of my stomach - which if it worked would then have to be repeated every 3 months!?! Well, this time, they brought a different guy in and they feel that I CAN keep taking the pills. There is a condition that the pills can cause (1 in 500 get it) called Tardive Dykinesia, but they feel that as long as the pills are working for me, and that I'm mindful of my symptoms - and that I allow for times where I don't take the pills, that I should be fine! I'm still in shock. Gastroparesis is the condition that I have. And they don't know why I have it, so they call it idiopathic. I just thought I'd throw that in there.
Wow. Wow. This could change my whole life. It's just weird that last time I was there I was told the one thing, and this time I've been told very nearly the opposite. This confuses me, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm sure I'll feel great about it later...I just... Wow.

Spoilers for tonight's BSG in this post.
I slept from around 6pm to 9:30pm. I woke up with my stomach cramped. It felt a bit better soon enough to watch BSG, which was a logical continuation of last week's episode. More characters died. The Quorum were all murdered. Zarek & Gaeta were executed. That's 14 recurring characters that just exited from the series. It was all handled very well...but I'm still in a bit of shock. The Gaeta / Gaius scene made me cry. And next week? Ellen Tigh returns. I'd read she was in the last 7 episodes, so I expected her to return this week, but the last episode ("Daybreak, Part II") is 2 hours long and was originally planned as a 3 parter - so she shows up next week - which looks pretty cool.

I read the first 100 pages or so of the first Vampire Diaries book. I'm beyond hungry. I'm making some cinnimon rolls that Mark was nice enough to pick up for me the other day. I want to go get groceries, but I'm trying to live on a budget, and I can wait until tomorrow to go. Hopefully. I do have things to eat; just not much. lol. I can have some soup later. And I have a disturbing # of boxes of pop tarts; assuming none of them are expired.
I'm thinking of adding a new section to my website that would contain lots of different kinds of information about me. Stuff that I've wanted to add in the past, but never quite had a place for. Random things from my childhood and life in general. Things like my eating disorder and medical problems. Useful information for me to document, and probably useful for anyone who'd like to know me. It's a bit scary sharing that stuff though.
I'm trying to curb my constant searching for Battlestar Galactica info. lol. I'm trying to read instead. I have the 4 volumes of the Vampire Diaries (plus the 5th one coming on Tuesday) to keep me covered for a few days. Plus the Robotech series. And any other book I'd like to include in the mix. We'll see how it goes.

I read more of my book. I have about 50 pages left. I comments on a bunch of facebook stuff. I showered. I should get dressed and go grocery shopping, but I'm trying to decide if I want to get pizza as well. Hmmmmm.

I went to the bank but couldn't get any cash out; I tried 3 times, but the atm said that my pin number was wrong. That's troublesome. I got groceries anyways. I got cheeze bread and wine and came home. I ate and watched "The Closer" and some old 'War at Home' episodes.

I started getting one of my migrains shortly after my last entry (yesterday). I took some pain killer. Later I went to bed, around 5:30pm, and finished reading the first Vampire Diary before sleeping. I slept for about 7 hours. I woke up around 1am. I read and replied to emails and facebook messages. I read the news. Had a snack. Wrote this. I'll start the next book now.

I never started the next book. I never left the computer. I just ended up reorganizing a bunch of files and stuff on my computer. It was fun. I'm wacky, and I accept that. lol

I got some artwork done. I chatted with this hot guy for awhile. I exchanged messages with one of Victor's other hookups. And sent random facebook messages. And when it finally came time for me to actually sleep...I couldn't. I slept briefly and had a nightmare there was someone in the condo with me. Because of this exhaustion I cancelled my trip to Necto.
Mark was able to get me my grocery money from the bank, which refused me on Sunday. He also brought in the mail, which included my new copy of the final Robotech volume. It's a nearly new copy, first edition, which means it's nearly 20 years old. Very cool.
I started the 2nd Vampire Diaries book; read the first 70 pages or so. I was a little disappointed with the first one, remembering them as silly but fun, but finding the first volume just silly. The 2nd one is better though.

I've been chatting and listening to old Pet Shop Boys. I was about to shave and shower when Mark got home; he's very sick; apparently throwing up. I hope he'll be ok. I wonder if it's the flu, or food poisoning, or what? Hopefully he'll be ok.

SpoilersOk. A question. I've been thinking about this for awhile and I'm starting to wonder if Cavil knows about the Final Five? He was so gung ho about the other Cylons not trying to track them down, almost like he was protecting them. His Cylon model # is 1. Does that have some significance? He had close ties to 4 of the final 5 Cylons before they knew they were Cylons. He tried to convince Tyrol that he wasn't a Cylon in "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 1"; he was apparently part of Ander's resistance movement in some form (in "Lay Down Your Burdnes, Part 2"); he taunted Saul Tigh while he was in prison on New Caprica ("Occupation"); and he had sexual relations with Ellen Tigh. The only one left unmolested (that we know of) is Tory. Seems a bit fishy to me.

I went to bed around 10pm. I woke up around 5:30am. Mark is awake and says he's feeling better, though his headache isn't gone.
I dreamt I was reading all my books. Like I'd worked my way through all the books that I own...and I was content. I was packing some of my books away and I actually found some money; a nice surprise. I remember packing away The Merlin Trilogy. I should read those someday.

I finished the 3rd Vampire Diaries book this morning. I remember crying at the ending the first 2 times I read it, but I remembered it too clearly for that to happen this time. I think I might read something else before the 4th Volume, or maybe I'll just wait until tonight to start it. I don't know. I do know the 4th Volume feels separate from the first 3.

I was about to go to bed, when I saw my friend Jonathan was apparently in some distress, based on his facebook 'status'. I left him a message expressing my concern. A bit later he sent me a message through the facebook messaging system (which scared the hell out of me) and before long we were on the phone talking about all manner of things. It was a wonderful conversation with old subjects revisited, new subjects boldly explored, a shared vision of the world acknowledged, and a coming together of old friends who've not spent nearly enough time together.
It did however keep me up much later than I've been going to bed.
Goodnight.

I slept until about 7am. I had a snack, even though I was feeling kind of acidy, because I was so hungry. I watched the first 3 episodes of the 2nd Season of Teen Titans. I own the first 2 seasons, but I've never really sat down and watched them. I'm finding them much more amusing now that they're not actually airing. They used to annoy me as I was much more interested in a serious Titans series that could crossover with Justice League and it's many counterpart shows. I never hated it, but it wasn't what I wanted either. I caught a few episodes that I enjoyed, but never really got into it.
I got Mark up for work, though he's kind of dragging a bit, and I'm not sure he'll be early today.

ugh. I've had this on again / off again migrain for I don't even know how long now; it's really starting to piss me off.
But Battlestar Galactica is on tonight, and from what I've heard, it's going to feature a lot of the characters that I love, and at least 1 charcter that I think I'm going to love soon enough.
And Kate Vernon has confirmed that her BSG character will appear in "The Plan"! About The Plan...I really do hope they don't push the airdate back to later than June, as for me it's really the capper to the show and I've been so excited at the prosect of seeing it since I first heard about it.
I was also thinking this morning...if they haven't done this in "The Plan" already, perhaps they could do another BSG movie that incorporates some of the many deleted scenes from the series; the ones that don't contradict later official episode cuts. That would rock. The deleted scenes from "Downloaded" in particular would seem to have been something that could have worked in "The Plan", and would have allowed Lucy Lawless's character to appear, as well as Gina. Just a thought.

My headache is still gone. Hopefully it stays gone.
I left some more messages at AfterElton concerning their lack of happiness with the BSG Gays. Erg.
Mollie left me a text message this morning. I guess her man broke up with her this morning. The day before Valentine's day!!! And 1 day after she saw some other skanky girl hitting on him. I want to kick him in the balls... But he's in TN. He better stay there.
About 8.5 hours until BSG. ;-0)

Just 5 weeks from tonight and I'll be watching the 2 hour finale of BSG. Just 2 months from yesterday, the new Doctor Who special "Planet of the Dead" will air. Just 2 months, a week and 1 day and I'll have the extended cut of the pilot episode for Caprica.
I played some Playstation games today. I did the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen. I've got a load of laundry in the dryer, and I've picked up some of the clutter in my room, though it's hard to tell, it had gotten so messy. I'm gonna try to get more of that done before BSG is on.

I got some more stuff done.
I was going to watch the premiere of Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, but I can wait for the download...and also...I'm not sure what channel it's on. lol. Besides. I've got stuff to do. I don't actually have high hopes for the series, despite the hands of Joss, who has yet to do anything wrong... I just don't love the premise, and I just have a feeling that it might not be for me. I worshipped Buffy, appreciated Angel, and I fell in love with Firefly. Dr. Horrible was a dream. I have no reason to doubt Joss, and hopefully I'm wrong. It doesn't help that I'm so obsessed with BSG - which is on in less than an hour!!!! ;-0)
I'm tempted to shave my head. I've not shaved in nearly 2 weeks. But Mark complimented me on my beard this morning, which makes me want to keep it. Yet I'd been planning on doing this. Erg.

SpoilersI guessed something right! Cavil did know about the Final Five. And I love Ellen now! And there was SO MUCH INFORMATION given. And we found out about the 13th Cylon!!!!!!! Daniel! Could that be Daniel Graystone!?!?!?!?!??! Argh! Boomer / Galen foreshadowing? I think so. Awesome episode. It explained why there's no Cylon #7. It explained how Ellen got on that ship in Season 1. It explained how Cavil is tied to all the final 5. It explained about the Cylon history (though I really need to go through it again to understand it all) - but it's awesome. ;-0)
The only thing that kind of irked me in the episode, and this is small, is that Anders storyline felt like a dead on cross between the "Babel" & "Rapture" episodes of DS9. I can live with that.
Questions still remaining:
Who or what is Starbuck?
Who or what are the head characters?
Are these head characters that appear to Baltar, Caprica Six & Kara the same head characters that appeared to the Final Five?
Who nuked Earth? Was it the Centurions?
Did Cavil/John start lead the attack on the 12 colonies?
What is this colony that was mentioned? Is that where the Cylons lived between the 1st war and the 2nd?
What about the 7th Cylon? Daniel? Now that I think about it he probably isn't related to Daniel Graystone from the Caprica series, as the 7th Cylon hadn't been created yet.
Who is the dying leader and what is the truth of the Opera House? What is the significance of Hera?
I find that I miss Caprica Six's interaction with Baltar. Her sudden couplehood with Tigh and the complete lack of any scenes between Six & Baltar seems very odd in retrospect...and wrong somehow.

I slept a lot today. I had odd sexual dreams. And I had more amusement park dreams, that actually continued a narrative. I really love this fairly new aspect to my dreaming.
I watched Dollhouse, and here's what I think, with very minor spoilers. I think the concept could work. I like certain aspects of the show. But there's 1 major flaw in it, from my perspective. I don't think the star is up to the challenge. I just don't buy her as these different characters. And that might just be me. Maybe I'm stuck on her as Faith from Buffy, but I'm not sure. I accepted her as a different character in (don't laugh too hard) "Bring It On". But I don't think her range is really that great, and I do still see her as Faith, which was odd when Fred from Angel showed up, though...only thing was - I completely bought Amy Acker as a different character. The same thing goes for what's his name? The actor that plays Helo on BSG. But Eliza didn't feel all that changed to me. Aside from that one horrific flaw, which may get better with time, I don't know - the show could be amazing. It kind of reminds me of early ALIAS episodes, and I almost wish that we could go back in time and have Jennifer Garner playing this role instead - because that would rock.
Yesterday I worked on organizing my adult fan art. Specificly, the Marvel Comics hero team The Avengers, who were favorites of mine as a child. I still have to sort through She-Hulk's pix, but I think I have everything else covered.
My brain has been processing Friday night's installment of BSG. Most of the episode was exposition, which could potentially be boring, but I wasn't bored at all. In fact, for a continuty junky like me, last episode's mega dose of info was a huge treat. It answered so many questions. It raised a few of it's own. It set up huge bits for "The Plan" movie. And it saw the return of Ellen & Boomer to the main story, and to a lesser degree, John Cavil. I think the revelations still have holes in them that the writers will fill in over the last 5 episodes (6 hours). But what they've given us so far, I like. A lot. And I'm very much looking forward to having all the episodes, including "The Plan" and then looking over the series, and hopefully it all holds together. So far it does. I think. Unless I'm missing something.
I might go grocery shopping and get some pizza. I'm not sure. We'll see.

I ended up getting pizza last night for me and Mark, and then got groceries this morning while Mark got ready for work.
DJ called me this morning. He wanted to set up another AVP LAN party, so that his son Jamie can play. I said that was fine and we'd get it set up. He's going to talk to Bryan and Mike about playing again too, then get back to me.
This morning I chatted with Bobby. He had complimented my new picture and wanted to talk about repairing our never fully formed friendship. We'll see how that goes.
Later I chatted with this guy named Brad, who Mark dated a few times years ago. He had hurt Mark and then talked shit about him online back then, which I confronted him on then and now. He apologised and said he was in a much better place now. He's living in Flint, working at a cafe and still working on art. Erotic sculptures this time. Hm. I hope he really is in a better place now.
I was supposed to go to Necto tonight and see an ex of mine, but because of some drama he's not going to be there. I'm really tired anyways, so I probably won't go now.
The right speaker for my computer is on the fritz. Damn it. That's gonna make watching movies on my computer suck beyond the telling of it. So much for me watching Six Feet Under. Ugh.

I finished the 4th Vampire Diary this morning. I started the 5th one about an hour ago. So far, I don't like it. The first three volumes were meant to be a trilogy and those feel like one complete book; not a great book, but something with a beginning, middle and end. The fourth volume followed shortly after those, and while there was continuity problem, it definitely felt like a continuation of the previous novels - like an extended epilogue. I forgave the continuity flub then, because it was something that could be explained away (though it wasn't explained in the novel) and I enjoyed reading about the characters again. That book felt slightly different than the previous 3, but it was set 6 months after those books so a shift in feeling seemed natural. The new book, is set 7 days after the previous one, and already there are major continuity problems. Characters are referencing things that never happened, or that don't make sense. Characters are acting extremely different than they did and it doesn't make any sense. It's annoying me.
I'm gonna eat. And possible play 'Unholy War' for Playstation. It's kind of like Wizard's Chess in that there is a grid that you move your characters across and then when 2 sides meet you fight. I've enjoyed it over the years. And the sides aren't the same. There are Technos; machine type invaders. And there are...um...I don't remember the name of the natural species characters. But you can play the computer or another player - and the hard setting on the computer is really frakking hard. lol

I had a horrific headache yesterday, but so far today it's ok. My left hand is aching though and I don't know why, and I have really bad acid reflux - which for the most part has been doing better lately.
I continue to play The Unholy War. I'd been playing on the Easy setting and tried the Normal setting the other day and had my ass handed to me. I used to play this game on the hard setting and kick ass... Well, I went back to easy, and tried normal again today and did a lot better. I eventually shut it down though because on the harder levels each round can take up to 40minutes and after several of those I want to do other things.
I nearly got in a long dramatic argument on the yahoo Trek boards. Some person didn't know what the word heterosexist meant, and instead of looking it up, accused me of making the word up and creating problems. I replied with a link to dictionary.com, and explained that I hadn't made anything up; that I'd learned the word in school. I tried closing down the thread as I find I just don't care enough to argue with these people, and he wrote these 2 long replies supporting the idea of a long argument (discussion) and I just don't want to go there. I've had really bad online fights there that went for a week or sometimes two with people saying really horrible things. The only reason I've stayed in that group is that the Trek writers and the former editor used to come in and they were always on my side. I'm sure they still are...but I don't want to deal with that shit right now. And I shouldn't have to.

I didn't get much sleep. I hope this isn't the beginning of a trend.
The internet has been behaving strangely. My e-mail was working, but very slowly - but any attempt to get to a website timed out. I was about to call Mark about it, but it cleared up. He's probably already working on it in his office. He had mentioned something about servers before leaving for work, so it's probably all connected.
I took a really long shower. I feel clean. My beard isn't long enough to feel itchy yet, which is always nice. Though I'm sure it will get there soon.
I just read this fascinating New Yorker story from August called "The Chameleon". The annoying thing about it was that I was on page 7 of 13 when the internet went all wacky! It was so annoying. I was really into the story. They're adapting part of this true story into a movie. Hopefully it will be as compelling as what I read.
I might read. I might play Unholy War. I have to eat at some point. And I will gladly watch the new Battlestar Galactica in about 4.5 hours. :0)
My life has been pretty solitary lately. But I've been enjoying it more than I was previously. For awhile I felt so lonely, not being out and seeing everyone on a regular basis...and I do miss people, but I'm starting to lose the lonely, depressed vibe, which has been nice. I hope that lasts at least until my situation changes once again.

According to TV Shows on DVD there will be a Complete Seres BluRay release of BSG on July 28; the Plan is supposed to air in June so I'm wondering if that will be included as well. Either way, I doubt I'll be getting the BlueRay set anytime soon. For 1 thing, there's the cost. The another the rest of my set is in standerd dvd format. And finally, I don't watch a lot of BluRay discs of yet anyway. Thankfully, it's rumored that the standard boxed set for Season 4.5 (including extended cuts of several episodes, including the finale) will be released on April 21st, the same day as the Caprica pilot. Hopefully that's true. The only down side to that is that it means The Plan won't be included in the set, but that's fine with me actually. That's a much earlier date than I was expecting, which means I'll really only have to wait a month to see the definitive cut of the finale - and that I'll have seen all the extras and stuff before seeing The Plan.
I'm so tired.
My friend Robert is in town this weekend. I'm sure he'll be at Necto tonight, but I'm not sure I'm up to going. Probably better to give him a call tomorrow.

Battlestar wasn't as good as the previous 3 episodes (which were all fantastic), but I got the feeling this was another kind of transitional episode (like "A Disquiet Follows My Soul", which was good but not fantastic). Even with the less important storylines, significant things happened. I actually think that significant events have marked every episode of Season 4.5, including the webisodes. Each installment has a character death, or a revelation of some sort; often times both. And many, many questions have been answered. Next week's installment seems to focus on 2 storylines that I care a lot about: Starbuck & Boomer. The Boomer part already has me pissed off, just from the trailer. Argh!

So I ended up going to Necto after all, and I'm so glad I did; I had a blast. And it's really a good thing that I did go, because Robert's plans had changed so I wouldn't have been able to see him tomorrow. Mark dropped me off. I didn't dress up as I usually do. I shaved my head, but kept the facial hair. I tried to look kind of butch...which apparently worked. I got loads of compliments.
When I arrived I put my jacket in the coat check and went to see Robert working the stage. He was so happy to see me that he pulled me up on the stage with him and gave me a big hug. In my ear he told me to whip my dick out. lol. He just saw me naked on my website for the first time the other day, and was apparently impressed. lol. I went and got a drink, at which point I ran into this guy Jim, that I went out with once, back in August 2007. It was so good to see him again. We've become facebook friends recently. He was looking FINE and introduced me to his friends Colton & his boyfriend...who's name I can't remember. They were so cute. Colton said he recognized me from Monday nights at Necto.
I also saw Andrew Inman, my ex-bf Jeremy Merklinger, my friend Anthony, Scott, Joey, Becky, my ex-bf Franklin, Keevan, and I'm sure there were others as well...
I spent most of the night chilling with Robert & Franklin, or Jim and his friends. I danced with Jim, and Jeremy too, down in the Red Room for about an hour. That was fun. I had to leave before the bar closed as Mark was waiting for me, but I got to say goodbye to everyone and Jim told me to call him, which I plan on doing.
I was drunk when I got in the car with Mark. He could smell the alcohol, and I was in a happy mood. Mark & I were enjoying chatting and chilling. I got a really cool video message from Tony Johnson, which I watched when I got home. I'll have to find a way to send him one back. I miss him... I took a shower, then showed Mark the "I Like the Moon" video that I posted in my blog a few entries ago. He laughed a lot and he liked it. Then I read some reviews of BSG. I forgot to mention before that a scene in the episode made me cry! And now I'm writing this.

What did I do Sunday and Monday and Tuesday?
I watched LOST Season 1.
I also managed to have a few chats with Mollie, Mark, and Jim. I also talked on the phone with my grandmother, my sister Janice, and my mother. The conversation with my mother was the longest and the most unexpected.
I'm exhausted. But I need groceries. Part of me wants to go...and the other part wants to sleep. I just have to make sure I get the groceries before Mark goes to work...or I'm more or less screwed.
Oh. The Oscars (which I no longer watch) were Sunday, and the awards I cared about went to the people that I wanted them to. So that was a nice surprise. The awards were:
Actor - Sean Penn (for "Milk")
Actress - Kate Winslet (for "The Reader")
Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger (for "The Dark Knight")
&
Original Screenplay - Dustin Lance Black (for "Milk")

I got groceries this morning; not as much as I probably should have, but some. I didn't really have my grocery money with me. I'll have to get that later.
I slept well today.
I'm on episode 4 of Season 2. I'm not enjoying this season as much as the first; I'm guessing twists and turns before they happen - which makes it hard to like some of the characters because it makes them seem really stupid. But I'd heard this season wasn't as good, and that it picks up again in Season 3. Hopefully that's true. I probably won't watch Season 2 as quickly as I did 1. I kind of feel overloaded on the series. I guess that's what happens when you watch 24 episodes in less than 3 days. lol. It was mostly fun though.
I jacked off (for the first time in like 4 days) and showered. I need to do the dishes and trash and pick up my room. But will I? lol

I did the dishes. I bagged up the trash. I filled the soap dispenser in the bathroom. I'm washing my sheets, comforter and pillow cases.
I'm listening to my muisc on random. Another wacky mix. There was Christopher Cross's "Arthur's Theme" and then "What Makes a Man a Man?" by Janis Ian...and now music from Grease 2. And there was some RENT in there too. And NIN. Fun.
Jennifer left me a voicemail earlier and is available tomorrow night for a sleepover back-to-friendship night if I'm up for it. I haven't decided yet. I'll probably agree to it. I just feel odd about it at the moment.
I haven't chatted with Jim in the last 2 days. I'm supposed to talk with Tony this week... And Paul said something about us going out to eat this week. It's like catch-up-with-everyone week.
The Buffy/Angel love theme just started playing. "Close Your Eyes". Erg.

The internet is still all wonky, so I'm hoping to get this BSG update up before it goes out again. Here are the trailers for Friday's episode - that I may or may not see if this problem isn't fixed. I think it's just that we need pay the cable bill. This happens everytime we don't pay it.

Well the internet is working again (for now). My head is killing me. I only go a couple hours of sleep. I should go back to bed. I'm kind of acidy though. I took some prilosec and some midrin. I need to refill my midrin perscription, but I have to go in to do that. Maybe I can do it on Saturday or Sunday.

After the last entry I tried to go to sleep, but the phone rang. I'm not complaining. I feel fine. The call was from Mollie. Apparently she fainted yesterday and hit her head really hard; blood coming out here ear and eye. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance. She doesn't remember a lot of it; doesn't remember where she was when she passed out or what she was doing. She remembers someone pounding on her chest, and them turning her over on the board she was tied to so that she could puke. It's her thyroid; apparently it's huge and she has to have it removed. Crazy.
I left Jennifer a message saying I was up for hanging out tonight. I exchanged some messages on facebook with my nephew Justin. I also chatted with my cousin Heather and my friend Ruki. I tried to go back to bed but it didn't work. I sent a note to Jim and then started picking up my room. I washed my sheets and stuff yesterday. I made my bed today, then cleaned up the majority of the clutter and vacumed...sprayed my carpet down with Fabreze. Next I'm gonna scrub the toilet, shave my head (if not my beard), brush my teeth and shower.
Hopefully later I'll be hanging out with Jennifer, but I might not have gotten back to her in time. I've got a stack of books that I'm interested in reading or rereading; books I've not touched in years. I'll try to start one of those later as well.

Jennifer didn't come over last night, but I did talk to her on the phone and she's coming over tonight after she gets off of work.
After my shower I called Tony Johnson and talked to him for about 4 hours. Nice. I had a nice relaxing night. I chatted online for a bit. I saw Corey & Cal. Mark came home and chatted with Corey for a bit. Then I let that all go and I went to bed.
I slept until about 3am, when my computer restarted itself. I thought that it had died but it was just a stupid security update. Ugh. I hate that. But I'm actually glad it happened because then I was awake when the phone rang at 3:10. It was Jim. And we talked for at least an hour, possibly longer. It was nice. We talked about the past and how confusing it was, both because of what I was going through back then, and because that BITCH Lucas was a being a catty manipulative cunt. I'd say I was shocked but I'm so not. I'm not even that angry with Luke. That's just who he's always been, and sadly that's probably who he'll always be. But the conversation with Jim was nice.
While I was on the phone with him, Mark came in my room and asked me to wake him up once I was done talking to Jim. Which I did. He wanted to know about my plans for Saturday. It looks like we might go to Toledo in the afternoon, and then I'll visit shortly with Mark & his mother Maria, then I'll visit with Jim (who also lives in Toledo). That's the plan anyways. Of course I suck at making plans so if that all falls apart, don't be surprised.
After all that I didn't feel like sleeping, so I ate and read the news. Then watched excerpts of the Defying Inequality concert on youtube. ;-0)

I didn't end up going to sleep until around 12:30pm. I was catching up on the last 3 episode of 'The Closer' cause I couldn't sleep. I also sorted files and episodes for Mollie. I stayed up to make sure Mark got off to work ontime. As soon as he was in the shower I was in bed and I was asleep before he went to work.
I woke up when my alarm went off at 4:30pm. I checked my e-mail, and responded to the one I'd been waiting on from Jim. Then I sorted more stuff for Mollie, jacked off and showered. Jennifer called right before I got in the shower to let me know she'd be here around 6:30 as she was running late. I started writing this and Mark called to see what was going on.
Jennifer should be here any minute.

Jennifer didn't get here until about 7pm, but it was like old times when she did. Actually, her being late was just like old times. We talked about all kinds of stuff. She liked my collage. We went out to eat and came back and hung out with Mark. Eventually Jennifer went to sleep on the couch and Mark & I retired to our rooms.
I called Jim and chatted with him for a few hours. It was nice.
I had tracked down an episode of the L Word I'd been missing, so I watched the last 4 episodes which was fun. I heard Jennifer leaving so I went down and helped her with her stuff and hugged her goodbye.
I went to bed around 10am. I woke up around 3pm, but managed to get back to sleep and didn't get up until around 7pm. I've been responding to e-mails and myspace and facebook messages. I read the news. Now I'm just waiting for BSG to be on at 10.
I don't know what I'm doing tonight, after the show. I might shave and go out. I might stay in and read, or get back into LOST. I don't know. I'm kind of clueless.

Battlestar Galactica was a lot better this week. I wasn't overly surprised by anything that happened; I guessed LOTS of things in advance (The song; Boomer; Ghost Daddy), but this is mostly because it fit in with classic BSG (and I don't mean the lame original series when I say that). The characters made sense this week. And I liked that they gave Boomer some grey area complexity with her goodbye to the Chief. I had tried to rewatch the previous episode but in retrospect I think it's the worst episode of BSG since "A Day in the Life", last season. Supposedly next week's episode ("Islanded in a Stream of Stars") is supposed to explain just about everything before we move into the 3 hour finale.
Mark just called me; he's stopping at Meijer on his way home from work.
I sort of feel like going out, and I sort of don't. I'm most likely going to Toledo tomorrow to see Mark's mom, and then visit with Jim.
Maybe I'll take some pictures tonight?

I took some pictures of me with my beard. Mark came home and we talked. I shaved and showered. I got dressed an went to Aut Bar for all of 20 minutes. I ran into this guy John that I friended on Facebook who is some type of record holder in the leather community. In fact it was leather night and there was this thing called CLAW there, which I think stood for the Cleveland Leather Awareness Week. But I could be wrong about that. Calvin from HARC was there (the man who last tested me for HIV) and there was nice conversation and hugs. Tony (this guy I wrote about years ago) and Redcloud were there. It was nice. I'd have gone to Necto afterwards, but it was so late that it seemed kind of pointless.
I came home and chatted on gay.com for a few hours. Mark watched the new BSG. The new one was kind of the reverse of the episode before it. While the older one got worse the more I thought about it, the new one only improved. Hopefully the last 4 hours continue the trend. ;-0)
So...yeah. I chatted with this guy Collin (his real name is Micahel, but friends call him Collin). That went well. Also chatted with this guy Marty. I apparently slept with him when he was 21 and had just come out, back in 1999. That was a really strange time for me. I took him to City Club. It was a nice conversation. I also chatted with Corey...and other random people.
I left gay.com to read as many BSG reviews as I could find. People seem to be reacting positively to the storyline. Good.
I went to a Trek Book forum and left some insightful responses.
I'm exhausted. I should sleep. I'm supposed to go to Toledo with Mark later. I really hate planning for stuff.

I didn't get to bed until around 10am. I kept remembering things I should do before going to Toledo. And then I was all stressed and finding it hard to sleep as a result. Mark woke me up at 1:30pm, saying we had to leave in a half hour and I told him to go without me. I thought he was cool with it. Then he showered, but even though I was beyond tired I couldn't get back to sleep. I called him into my room to see if he could delay his trip by maybe an hour so I could get up and get ready, but when he came in my room I remembered that the internet had been fucked up again last night and so I told him that first - then in his most bitchy voice he said that it was the internet trying to tell me to get to sleep. I realized right away that he hadn't taken it well and that he was going to be a total dick to me and that I definitely didn't want to spend the day trapped in a car with him. I told him to just get out of my room. I was just so disgusted by his behavior. He in turn said he wasn't in my room and left without closing my door. I got up, closed the door, and wrote this. When he's like this it's horrible to be around him. If I had my own car I'd just go separately and there wouldn't be a problem. Oh well. It's not like I don't have stuff I could be doing. I just really wanted to see Jim today, and honestly, creepy as it may seem given our history, I really wanted to see Mark's mother. And then Mark got in the way.

I called Jim to let him know what was going on and we talked for over an hour. It was nice, but now I'm even more exhausted. My eyes are having trouble with the focus. lol. It's probably for the best that I didn't go anyways. I'm gonna try to sleep.

Easynews is frakked up again (IMO) and BSG hasn't been posted yet. Lots of things haven't been posted yet. Damn them! If the delay had been for last week's episode I wouldn't have cared...but I'd really like to rewatch the twist with the piano playing again, and I don't know how to play back the recording from the tv.
I ate and read more BSG reviews. My stomach feels like it's in tip-top shape. I feel relaxed. And I've been having more soda lately than I'm prone to having because soda usually upsets my stomach...and it probably will eventually but I'm enjoying this normality as long as it lasts. I feel very content by the simplicity of things at the moment. ;-0)
