I can't believe it's February already.

I chatted briefly this morning; saw Trevor online; he was interested, but it was too late; he said he should have called me, and I agreed. I chatted with Caleb on yahoo; he seems nice. Hopefully all goes well.

I looked for my "Thief of Always" book for Mollie to borrow, but I can't find it anywhere. I did find some of my old favorites, which made me wonder if I shouldn't read some of those this year, though I've read them before? I'm still considering it.

It's been over a week since I shaved; I feel like Grizzly Adams. Argh. Now I have the theme song stuck in my head. Frak.

Bald Jason sings:

"Deep inside the forsest is a door into another land; here is our life and home; we are staying here forever in the beauty of this place all alone..." blah blah blah.

I loved that show as a kid. I probably saw every episode (not that there were that many) except for the movie that tied it all up, which I fell asleep during, but I remember my mother being all emotional about. Kind of like when the Hulk died at the end of that show (during the aptly titled "Death of the Incredible Hulk"), and my Aunt Martha being upset about it. I remember that movie having this rather sad music at the end "And Something Ends"; I'd like to have that. Ahh. Hokey tv classics and their music that haunts me.

I'm taking my tax info to my older sister (Janice) at her church this morning, as that's about half way between here and her home in Adrian. The church service starts at 9am. I'm going to try to be there by 8:30am. Then I'm going to the bank, and go grocery shopping. That's my plan anyways.

I had a headache. I took some midrin. Been taking it a lot the last few days. I feel all spacey. I was going to shave before I left, but I've decided that I like the look of it for now. I've also been pretty critical of my weight the last few weeks, but I really looked at myself in the mirror and decided I like the way the weight looks on me. It's a nice kind of morning.

I watched some more Ally; just 2 episodes left. It's an odd sort of season. It's probably very good that they ended it when they did. I used to think that this season of Ally really jumped the shark, and there are signs that it had, but it holds itself together fairly well. Better than many other shows probably would have. Thankfully Battlestar Galactica hasn't even come close to that this season - it's actually starting to feel like a true pay off for all the previous seasons - and that's awesome. But I'm still slightly warry, as ALIAS starting kicking ass again right before the end, and the failed miserably. Again, hopefully that won't happen here. I'm anxious to see all of Six Feet Under, and to get into LOST. Hopefully those shows won't burn me either.

I drove out to the church, and saw multiple family members and old church friends. It's weird going there. They always want me to stay, and it's tempting because I love those people and I know that they care about me, but they have this insidious message about how I'm sinning by being gay - and though the message is that we're all sinners, I'm supposed to apologise for being gay and that will never happen. I can only imagine what my gay relatives go through there. Or I don't have to imagine it, because I went through it myself. Then add to that not being a believer and it just gets worse.

Still. It was nice to see people.

Then I went to Hillards for water (4 cases), the bank, Kroger for groceries. I went over my budget a little, but I can afford it this week, I think. Hopefully. And I didn't even get all that I wanted. Blah.

I came home. Brought in all the stuff. Chatted with Mark. Then watched the final 2 episodes of Ally. A good ending to a mostly great series. The final season was a bit off, but it wasn't terrible. The final episode featured flashbacks from Season 1, 2 & 4 (I think), and it was amazing to see how different the characters looked, even though for me it's really only been a few weeks since I saw them looking that way.

After the Ally fest, I looked at some e-mail. There was this one open request for someone to help identify some of the more obscure villains from the final season of JLU, which was kind of a treat for me as I studied all those villains when the show was airing...just for my own benefit, and now I was able to name those characters (who are never named on screen, and hardly every appear) without much effort at all.

I downloaded some mashups this morning; the first new ones in MONTHS. I just haven't had any luck finding good ones lately, and bam! I found 3 GREAT ones, and several ok ones as well. So these GREAT ones were like party music; really upbeat and I just had to dance. I thought I was being good; I wore headphones and just rocked out, but apparently my movements were pretty loud and Mark came in my room (scaring the HELL out of me) to get some ear plugs. lol. Oh well. He really didn't need them after that as he scared me so much I had to stop. But I got a really good work out. ;-0)

I'm so tired...

I so need to clean my room and shave. Perhaps I'll go to Necto tonight; I'm not sure.

I need to sleep.

I just watched last week's Smallville episode, "Power". This season of Smallville is amazing. The show has never been this good. Creatively, it's on fire. If you'd told me last year at this time that the show would improve this much, I wouldn't have believed it. Season 7 was just barely watchable. I thought for sure it would be cancelled, and I felt it deserved to be. If the series ends this season, I'm sure it will go out in style. If it continues for another season, I'm not sure that will be the case...but these new old writers have given the series new life, and I'm grateful.

I slept well. Woke up around 10:30pm. I shaved. I showered. I got ready for the bar and left shortly after Mark got home. Some of my bar friends were supposed to be there, but after scoping around for an hour, I texted and they said they'd just left, which means we were there at the same time, or the girl in question lied, which is honestly what I'm leaning towards. I had a blast without them anyways. I danced a lot. Saw some old friends. Made some new friends. Danced next to some hot gay guys, and flirted with a cute boy who turned out to be way too young for me. Oh. And Becky, the bartender who gives me free drinks wasn't there, so I paid $7.00 (with tip) for a drink! Ugh. But Scott (the manager) showed up later and got me 4 more drinks for free ;-0) Drunk...was...me.

I came home when the music turned lame and the djs started doing the too much talking thing, which was 9 minutes after 2am. I stripped. I chatted with Mark. Chatted on line and had a snack. Then showered the sweat and smoke off. I read some BSG related articles (Friday can't come soon enough), and wrote this.

I'm thinking of re-reading the Robotech series; there are 21 books in the series, but I love them. I might start watching Six Feet Under this week. We'll see.

I started watching "Six Feet Under"; rewatching the pilot. I saw the first 2 seasons, probably around 2003. I then decided I'd wait until the final season was released before I continued, but by the time that happened I no longer knew what the fuck was going on. I've actually seen the pilot episode twice before this morning, so I was more familiar with it than any other episode, but it still made me laugh out loud a few times, and sigh dramatically in others. Good television. And now I can finally watch the entire series. ;-0)

I knew that I got 'Six Feet Under' for a bargain price at $59.99, but I didn't realize how much of a bargain! I was just scanning Amazon, and to buy only Season 1, it's $39.98! And I got 4 more seasons (and 2 soundtracks) for just $20.01 more! Then I looked at the regular boxed set price (which is what I bought), and I had assumed the set was something like $140.00, and it turns out it's actually $179.90! Meaning, I saved $119.91!!!!! Wow. No buyer's remorse at all now. Go me!!! :0)

Someday I'll be able to watch all of Battlestar Galactica / Caprica. Assuming I live that long.

I read some more Robotech. Actually, I went to the final volume in the series and read all the stuff that takes place before book one (which isn't cheating for me as I've already read the whole 21 book series before) - then read another chapter of the first book. It's ironic that I've decided to reread these books now, as the section that I'm reading currently; where the story really begins, is set in 2009.

I also finished the first disc of Six Feet Under. That's only 3 episodes total. Still got 60 more to go. If I were to watch a disc a day, I'd finish the entire series in less than a month. I'm not saying that's going to happen; I'm just throwing that out there.

I just read a new interview (with annoying comments) with Jane Espenson about BSG, Dollhouse, Buffy & Caprica. It was ok, but didn't really shed any light on anything that important to me at this juncture, like the final 7 BSG episodes, or the movie "The Plan", which she wrote.

I feel like I should be sleeping. I've only slept 2 hours since I woke up last night before the bar. Whatever.

I dug out all my old Robotech books. Then I bought new copies of the ones that were available new on amazon (using a $10.00 gift certificate I'd been saving, to help with the cost). Then I looked at my old copies and picked out the 3 most in need of replacement and ordered new copies off half.com. I'd have started replacing all of them, but I don't have the cash right now. 2 of those copies I'm replacing are actually falling apart, both from age and wear and tear - but also, I didn't take very good care of them when I was in middle-school. I'm enjoying the rereading, and the taking care of the series.

Yesterday:

I read more Robotech. I ordered more Robotech. I ate. I slept. I watched another episode of Six Feet Under. I got Mark off to work around the time he usually leaves, expecting that he could just drop off Mollie's package at the UPS place (which when we drop stuff off there, we don't have to wait in line) - only he'd boxed it up for the post office and had to wait in line for 25 minutes, making him late for work. Not late by much, but anytime he's late it worries me.

I worked on my webpage a bit. I set up a page explaining how BSG is even more fun the 2nd time around because of all the character and plot revelations that change how you view the series. I can't really go in depth with the page yet though because there are still 7 more installments, plus "The Plan", which will surely effect the older episodes.

I went to bed around 4:30pm and woke up shortly before Mark got home from work, around midnight. I had a dream about my ex-gf Jennifer. I called her and left her a voicemail about it. I've not spoken to her in over a year; the longest we've gone without communicating since we met in early 1995. I've left her 20-30 messages in that time. She left me one on my birthday, but I got the impression that she was deliberately avoiding me, and I'm not sure why that is, but it hurts me.

Mark got home and we talked for a bit. Something's bothering him, but he's not telling me because he doesn't want to stress me out, which is sweet...but it makes me worry for him. It would actually probably be a lot worse if he told me, so I appreciate his thoughtfullness...but I worry about him just the same.

I'm making cookies. Yum. I might have to give them up soon, so I figured I'd have some while I can still enjoy them.

I tried watching the new Batman animated series...Batman: The Brave & the Bold. It's horrible. I can't stand it. It's not for me. It makes "The Batman" series look classic by comparison, and I didn't love that show either. I've had friends tell me that I'd love both of those shows, but they simply don't understand my attraction to characters in general. The thing about Batman, is that I like my characters to be complex and have a sprawling mythology. I've already had that with Batman: The Animated Series and it's multiple spin-offs. I'll probably never have that again, but that Batman will always be my Batman. This is probably why I have a hard time embracing Christian Bale's recent Batman appearances; because he pales in comparison to his animated counterpart.

Going back to the Robotech books I've purchased, I'll now have new copies of all the original 12 novels, plus 2 newer copies of 2 of the later novels. The Robotech series of novels (much like the series they're based on) have an interesting publishing history. The first 12 books of the series comprise the tv series Robotech, which is split into 3 generations. The first 6 books cover the First Generation. Books 7-9 cover the Second Generation. Books 10-12 cover the Third Generation. Robotech was meant to have a 2nd Season, called "The Sentinels", which would have picked up the story between the first 2 generations and explained where the main characters from the First Generation went to during the other stories, while setting up other storylines; ending at the same point in time as the Third Generation, but from a different perspective. For various reasons the 2nd season of Robotech wasn't finished, and the first few finished episodes were cobbled together for release. The authors of the first 12 Robotech books took the scripts for the 2nd season and injected them with their own ideas (just as they had the first season) and wrote a 5 book series "Robotech: The Sentinels" numbered 1-5. Then they wrote a 'final' book in the series that wrapped up both seasons, "Robotech #18: The End of the Circle". There were still some major time gaps between certain books, so 3 more books were written to fill those gaps (which are among my favorites): "Robotech #19: The Zentraedi Rebellion", "Robotech #20: The Masters' Gambit" & "Robotech #21: Before The Invid Storm" - the last one came out in 1996, which is when I read the entire series through the last time.

Now if you read the books in chronological order as I do, then the order goes like this:

Robotech:
#01 Genesis (1st Gen)
#02 Battlecry (1st Gen)
#03 Homecoming (1st Gen)
#04 Battle Hymn (1st Gen)
#05 Force of Arms (1st Gen)
#06 Doomsday (1st Gen)
#19 The Zentraedi Rebellion (Lost Gen)
The Sentinels:
#01 The Devil's Hand
#02 Dark Powers
#03 Death Dance
#04 World Killers
#05 Rubicon
Robotech:
#20 The Masters' Gambit (Lost Gen)
#07 Southern Cross (2nd Gen)
#08 Metal Fire (2nd Gen)
#09 The Final Nightmare (2nd Gen)
#21 Before the Invid Storm (Lost Gen)
#10 Invid Invasion (3rd Gen)
#11 Metamorphosis (3rd Gen)
#12 Symphony of Light (3rd Gen)
#18 The End of the Circle (Lost Gen)

Confusing huh? Well to make it just a bit more confusing, a few years later some of the novels were released in 3-in-1 volumes. The First Generation (split into 2 volumes), the first 3 books of the Sentinels, and then the 2nd Generation were all released in this format.

Then a few years ago, they released another set of 3-in-1 volumes. This time they did the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations (the original 12 novels) - with new covers for the ones that had been released in this fashion previously.

This has raised the prices in most markets for the other 9 volumes.

See how this becomes complicated very quickly. And the thing is, I didn't buy a lot of the reprints, because I stupidly expected them to release the series in chronological order someday. Which still hasn't happened, and most likely never will. Oh well. Now that I've been ordering them I'll have new copies or the original 12, plus 2 of the others. I have passable reading copies of all the books, but I could use new copies of some of the other volumes and I'll probably try to get my hands on some of them at some point.

Blah.

The 1st trailer for the 3rd Season of Torchwood should be available online sometime in the next day or so. Hopefully. :-0)

It's been revealed that K9 will be in about half of the 3rd Season of The Sarah Jane Adventures. This makes me wonder if David Tennant will be appearing as well, as supposedly he was supposed to appear last season and take K9 away with him for some reason.

Doctor Who will face new villians in the upcoming specials; villains such as the Tritovore. The 10th Doctor will also once again cross paths with Martha Jones.

OMJ. Oh My Joss! They're releasing the unrated pilot to CAPRICA on DVD 1 month and 1 day after the finale of BSG!!!! I actually read that this morning, but assumed it was a hoax. lol But apparently it's not. Very cool. April 21. That's about 2 months before BSG: The Plan will air (supposedly). More BSG themed goodness. Thank you! Hopefully I like it. This seems like a really smart idea. This way fans get a taste...and the show runners get a BUNCH of feedback from the people that matter so they can see what they got right and what needs clearing up.

Other news sites are picking up this story and running with it. You can see this here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. Seems legit. Awesome.

I went to bed around 6pm. I woke up around midnight. I'm still excited about "Caprica" coming to DVD. We'll actually get another Doctor Who Special between the end of BSG and the release of Caprica; "Planet of the Dead" is said to air around Easter, which is April 12 this year.

I talked to Mollie on the phone. Her boytoy's mom doesn't like her; thinks she's too old for him. Kenny's cleaning out the fridge, with many grunts and gasps. Mollie is upset with Walmart for not carrying a certain volume of anime...and planning on buying a new computer either this week or next week. She'll also hopefully get the dvds we sent her soon.

I might go back to bed.

Right when I'd told myself I was going to go back to not spending any money on books, something happened to change my mind. Back when I was in High School I read these sort of silly but fun teenybopper books. I read a lot of other stuff too, but I enjoyed the kind of teen angst books too, even while I laughed at myself for reading them. In 1991 I read these 3 books called "The Vampire Diaries", which were quick reads, that made me laugh and cry and I enjoyed them for exactly what they were. These books were promoted as a trilogy, but they did so well that a 4th volume was released in 1992, which I snapped up and enjoyed as much as the first 3 (though there was a slight continuity flub, which was never explained away - though it could be rather easily). After they'd done a 4th one I kind of expected more, and anytime I've seen the books in stores I've looked to see if more had been released, but there hadn't been. Actually, about a year ago I was at Borders and I thought I saw a new one, but it was just the old books with new covers, and combined into 2 volumes instead of 4. I guess what happened was that the Twilight books were doing so well that they repackaged the Vampire Diaries to capitalize on that success and it worked - with the Vampire Diaries jumping on to the bestseller lists. This inspired them to order 3 new books in the series, the first of which comes out on Tuesday in hardcover (the original 4 were all paperbacks). And, the CW Network has ordered a pilot script based on the books. Wacky. Also, I just found my old first edition copies of the books when I was getting my Robotech books out and thought I might reread those too. Now I'm planning on reading the whole series again, and continuing in the 5th. I find this all rather amusing. Maybe I'll get around to reading those Twilight books too, as I now have a reason to be grateful for them.

My doc appointment is at 12:45pm.

11 hours from now I'll hopefully be getting ready to watch the new Battlestar Galactica, 4x15: "Blood on the Scales".

I just read an article that suggests that April's release of Caprica might mean that Battlestar Galactica: The Plan might not air until the fall of 2009. Hopefully this isn't true, as in many ways I'm looking forward to The Plan more than I'm looking forward to the end of the series. Erg.

Mark is in the shower; he's going to my doc appointment with me, as I want someone there to ask more questions, and when I do (if I do) have the surgery, Mark will be the one taking care of me.

Good news! If a bit confusing. Last time I went to my doc it was to tell her how great the pills I'd been prescribed were working for me, and how much they'd changed my life...only to be told that I couldn't continue to take the pills, and that my best bet was a surgery involving them injecting botox into the bottom of my stomach - which if it worked would then have to be repeated every 3 months!?! Well, this time, they brought a different guy in and they feel that I CAN keep taking the pills. There is a condition that the pills can cause (1 in 500 get it) called Tardive Dykinesia, but they feel that as long as the pills are working for me, and that I'm mindful of my symptoms - and that I allow for times where I don't take the pills, that I should be fine! I'm still in shock. Gastroparesis is the condition that I have. And they don't know why I have it, so they call it idiopathic. I just thought I'd throw that in there.

Wow. Wow. This could change my whole life. It's just weird that last time I was there I was told the one thing, and this time I've been told very nearly the opposite. This confuses me, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm sure I'll feel great about it later...I just... Wow.

Spoilers for tonight's BSG in this post.

I slept from around 6pm to 9:30pm. I woke up with my stomach cramped. It felt a bit better soon enough to watch BSG, which was a logical continuation of last week's episode. More characters died. The Quorum were all murdered. Zarek & Gaeta were executed. That's 14 recurring characters that just exited from the series. It was all handled very well...but I'm still in a bit of shock. The Gaeta / Gaius scene made me cry. And next week? Ellen Tigh returns. I'd read she was in the last 7 episodes, so I expected her to return this week, but the last episode ("Daybreak, Part II") is 2 hours long and was originally planned as a 3 parter - so she shows up next week - which looks pretty cool.

I had considered going to Necto tonight, but I'm too tired. Plus I don't want to be at the bar if my stomach starts acting up again. Blah. Mark still isn't home from work; hope he's ok.

Mark still isn't home.

My stomach is freaking out again. I'm gonna take a bath.

The bath helped a bit. Mark is home now; he just worked over is all. He's about to watch tonight's BSG so we can discuss it. I'm going to read Robotech (5 of my 7 new copies arrived today) and possibly sleep. And I continue to contemplate tonight's BSG episode.

I just watched Thursday's episode of Smallville, "Requiem". It was Lana's swan song. At least for now. And it was clunky in spots, but it got the ending right. I can tell because it made me cry.

Here's the somewhat lame trailer for the episode in question:

My stomach is still bothering me; I feel like I might have a fever.

Mollie gave me a call. I guess she's been in the hospital with her mom the last couple days. Her mom had another heart attack, and beyond that, there's a bunch of other drama. I'm glad I was awake to answer her call, but I wish I could do more.

I read the first 100 pages or so of the first Vampire Diaries book. I'm beyond hungry. I'm making some cinnimon rolls that Mark was nice enough to pick up for me the other day. I want to go get groceries, but I'm trying to live on a budget, and I can wait until tomorrow to go. Hopefully. I do have things to eat; just not much. lol. I can have some soup later. And I have a disturbing # of boxes of pop tarts; assuming none of them are expired.

I'm thinking of adding a new section to my website that would contain lots of different kinds of information about me. Stuff that I've wanted to add in the past, but never quite had a place for. Random things from my childhood and life in general. Things like my eating disorder and medical problems. Useful information for me to document, and probably useful for anyone who'd like to know me. It's a bit scary sharing that stuff though.

I'm trying to curb my constant searching for Battlestar Galactica info. lol. I'm trying to read instead. I have the 4 volumes of the Vampire Diaries (plus the 5th one coming on Tuesday) to keep me covered for a few days. Plus the Robotech series. And any other book I'd like to include in the mix. We'll see how it goes.

I've got about 110 pages left in the first Vampire Diaries book. I also watched 2 more episodes of Six Feet Under. It's about my bedtime.
