Bald Jason's Musings

I slept a lot today. I had odd sexual dreams. And I had more amusement park dreams, that actually continued a narrative. I really love this fairly new aspect to my dreaming.
I watched Dollhouse, and here's what I think, with very minor spoilers. I think the concept could work. I like certain aspects of the show. But there's 1 major flaw in it, from my perspective. I don't think the star is up to the challenge. I just don't buy her as these different characters. And that might just be me. Maybe I'm stuck on her as Faith from Buffy, but I'm not sure. I accepted her as a different character in (don't laugh too hard) "Bring It On". But I don't think her range is really that great, and I do still see her as Faith, which was odd when Fred from Angel showed up, though...only thing was - I completely bought Amy Acker as a different character. The same thing goes for what's his name? The actor that plays Helo on BSG. But Eliza didn't feel all that changed to me. Aside from that one horrific flaw, which may get better with time, I don't know - the show could be amazing. It kind of reminds me of early ALIAS episodes, and I almost wish that we could go back in time and have Jennifer Garner playing this role instead - because that would rock.
Yesterday I worked on organizing my adult fan art. Specificly, the Marvel Comics hero team The Avengers, who were favorites of mine as a child. I still have to sort through She-Hulk's pix, but I think I have everything else covered.
My brain has been processing Friday night's installment of BSG. Most of the episode was exposition, which could potentially be boring, but I wasn't bored at all. In fact, for a continuty junky like me, last episode's mega dose of info was a huge treat. It answered so many questions. It raised a few of it's own. It set up huge bits for "The Plan" movie. And it saw the return of Ellen & Boomer to the main story, and to a lesser degree, John Cavil. I think the revelations still have holes in them that the writers will fill in over the last 5 episodes (6 hours). But what they've given us so far, I like. A lot. And I'm very much looking forward to having all the episodes, including "The Plan" and then looking over the series, and hopefully it all holds together. So far it does. I think. Unless I'm missing something.
I might go grocery shopping and get some pizza. I'm not sure. We'll see.

I ended up getting pizza last night for me and Mark, and then got groceries this morning while Mark got ready for work.
DJ called me this morning. He wanted to set up another AVP LAN party, so that his son Jamie can play. I said that was fine and we'd get it set up. He's going to talk to Bryan and Mike about playing again too, then get back to me.
This morning I chatted with Bobby. He had complimented my new picture and wanted to talk about repairing our never fully formed friendship. We'll see how that goes.
Later I chatted with this guy named Brad, who Mark dated a few times years ago. He had hurt Mark and then talked shit about him online back then, which I confronted him on then and now. He apologised and said he was in a much better place now. He's living in Flint, working at a cafe and still working on art. Erotic sculptures this time. Hm. I hope he really is in a better place now.
I was supposed to go to Necto tonight and see an ex of mine, but because of some drama he's not going to be there. I'm really tired anyways, so I probably won't go now.
The right speaker for my computer is on the fritz. Damn it. That's gonna make watching movies on my computer suck beyond the telling of it. So much for me watching Six Feet Under. Ugh.

I finished the 4th Vampire Diary this morning. I started the 5th one about an hour ago. So far, I don't like it. The first three volumes were meant to be a trilogy and those feel like one complete book; not a great book, but something with a beginning, middle and end. The fourth volume followed shortly after those, and while there was continuity problem, it definitely felt like a continuation of the previous novels - like an extended epilogue. I forgave the continuity flub then, because it was something that could be explained away (though it wasn't explained in the novel) and I enjoyed reading about the characters again. That book felt slightly different than the previous 3, but it was set 6 months after those books so a shift in feeling seemed natural. The new book, is set 7 days after the previous one, and already there are major continuity problems. Characters are referencing things that never happened, or that don't make sense. Characters are acting extremely different than they did and it doesn't make any sense. It's annoying me.
I'm gonna eat. And possible play 'Unholy War' for Playstation. It's kind of like Wizard's Chess in that there is a grid that you move your characters across and then when 2 sides meet you fight. I've enjoyed it over the years. And the sides aren't the same. There are Technos; machine type invaders. And there are...um...I don't remember the name of the natural species characters. But you can play the computer or another player - and the hard setting on the computer is really frakking hard. lol

I had a horrific headache yesterday, but so far today it's ok. My left hand is aching though and I don't know why, and I have really bad acid reflux - which for the most part has been doing better lately.
I continue to play The Unholy War. I'd been playing on the Easy setting and tried the Normal setting the other day and had my ass handed to me. I used to play this game on the hard setting and kick ass... Well, I went back to easy, and tried normal again today and did a lot better. I eventually shut it down though because on the harder levels each round can take up to 40minutes and after several of those I want to do other things.
I nearly got in a long dramatic argument on the yahoo Trek boards. Some person didn't know what the word heterosexist meant, and instead of looking it up, accused me of making the word up and creating problems. I replied with a link to dictionary.com, and explained that I hadn't made anything up; that I'd learned the word in school. I tried closing down the thread as I find I just don't care enough to argue with these people, and he wrote these 2 long replies supporting the idea of a long argument (discussion) and I just don't want to go there. I've had really bad online fights there that went for a week or sometimes two with people saying really horrible things. The only reason I've stayed in that group is that the Trek writers and the former editor used to come in and they were always on my side. I'm sure they still are...but I don't want to deal with that shit right now. And I shouldn't have to.
Battlestar Galactica is on tomorrow night. Here are the 2 trailers for the episodes:

I didn't get much sleep. I hope this isn't the beginning of a trend.
The internet has been behaving strangely. My e-mail was working, but very slowly - but any attempt to get to a website timed out. I was about to call Mark about it, but it cleared up. He's probably already working on it in his office. He had mentioned something about servers before leaving for work, so it's probably all connected.
I took a really long shower. I feel clean. My beard isn't long enough to feel itchy yet, which is always nice. Though I'm sure it will get there soon.
I just read this fascinating New Yorker story from August called "The Chameleon". The annoying thing about it was that I was on page 7 of 13 when the internet went all wacky! It was so annoying. I was really into the story. They're adapting part of this true story into a movie. Hopefully it will be as compelling as what I read.
I might read. I might play Unholy War. I have to eat at some point. And I will gladly watch the new Battlestar Galactica in about 4.5 hours. :0)
My life has been pretty solitary lately. But I've been enjoying it more than I was previously. For awhile I felt so lonely, not being out and seeing everyone on a regular basis...and I do miss people, but I'm starting to lose the lonely, depressed vibe, which has been nice. I hope that lasts at least until my situation changes once again.

According to TV Shows on DVD there will be a Complete Seres BluRay release of BSG on July 28; the Plan is supposed to air in June so I'm wondering if that will be included as well. Either way, I doubt I'll be getting the BlueRay set anytime soon. For 1 thing, there's the cost. The another the rest of my set is in standerd dvd format. And finally, I don't watch a lot of BluRay discs of yet anyway. Thankfully, it's rumored that the standard boxed set for Season 4.5 (including extended cuts of several episodes, including the finale) will be released on April 21st, the same day as the Caprica pilot. Hopefully that's true. The only down side to that is that it means The Plan won't be included in the set, but that's fine with me actually. That's a much earlier date than I was expecting, which means I'll really only have to wait a month to see the definitive cut of the finale - and that I'll have seen all the extras and stuff before seeing The Plan.
I'm so tired.
My friend Robert is in town this weekend. I'm sure he'll be at Necto tonight, but I'm not sure I'm up to going. Probably better to give him a call tomorrow.

Battlestar wasn't as good as the previous 3 episodes (which were all fantastic), but I got the feeling this was another kind of transitional episode (like "A Disquiet Follows My Soul", which was good but not fantastic). Even with the less important storylines, significant things happened. I actually think that significant events have marked every episode of Season 4.5, including the webisodes. Each installment has a character death, or a revelation of some sort; often times both. And many, many questions have been answered. Next week's installment seems to focus on 2 storylines that I care a lot about: Starbuck & Boomer. The Boomer part already has me pissed off, just from the trailer. Argh!

So I ended up going to Necto after all, and I'm so glad I did; I had a blast. And it's really a good thing that I did go, because Robert's plans had changed so I wouldn't have been able to see him tomorrow. Mark dropped me off. I didn't dress up as I usually do. I shaved my head, but kept the facial hair. I tried to look kind of butch...which apparently worked. I got loads of compliments.
When I arrived I put my jacket in the coat check and went to see Robert working the stage. He was so happy to see me that he pulled me up on the stage with him and gave me a big hug. In my ear he told me to whip my dick out. lol. He just saw me naked on my website for the first time the other day, and was apparently impressed. lol. I went and got a drink, at which point I ran into this guy Jim, that I went out with once, back in August 2007. It was so good to see him again. We've become facebook friends recently. He was looking FINE and introduced me to his friends Colton & his boyfriend...who's name I can't remember. They were so cute. Colton said he recognized me from Monday nights at Necto.
I also saw Andrew Inman, my ex-bf Jeremy Merklinger, my friend Anthony, Scott, Joey, Becky, my ex-bf Franklin, Keevan, and I'm sure there were others as well...
I spent most of the night chilling with Robert & Franklin, or Jim and his friends. I danced with Jim, and Jeremy too, down in the Red Room for about an hour. That was fun. I had to leave before the bar closed as Mark was waiting for me, but I got to say goodbye to everyone and Jim told me to call him, which I plan on doing.
I was drunk when I got in the car with Mark. He could smell the alcohol, and I was in a happy mood. Mark & I were enjoying chatting and chilling. I got a really cool video message from Tony Johnson, which I watched when I got home. I'll have to find a way to send him one back. I miss him... I took a shower, then showed Mark the "I Like the Moon" video that I posted in my blog a few entries ago. He laughed a lot and he liked it. Then I read some reviews of BSG. I forgot to mention before that a scene in the episode made me cry! And now I'm writing this.
