FRAGMENTS, PART V:
COME WHAT MAY

You were going to buy me
an engagement ring...

You were going to record me
Your Song...

You told me it was us against
the world,
but that didn't matter for long...

For only days after,
everything shattered...

Everything ended
& I couldn't admit it...

You were a changed man -
You were a cave man -
but for days you questioned
& hid it.

And now I reach out
for you
& recoil...

What I wish is for love
back before
it was spoiled...

But we can never go home
& you seem
so unreal...

Don't seem to remember
the love
I still feel...

The love that makes soldiers
afraid
& unmade...

The love that burns still
in my memory
today...

In my mind love's lasting...
Spell broken...
Still casting...

Our love remembered -
Never dies -
Come What May.
