PROVOKED BI THE OUTCOME
There once was a boy who was only a ghost...
A shade of darkness so much brighter than most...
A piece of a puzzle unsolved when I knew him...
A code left unbroken that sought to subdue him...
That's how I found him -
that spectral someone...
Two ghosts together;
takes one to know one.
We clashed for a moment;
we lusted for years...
We held on to nothing & embraced our own fears...
For we were both ravaged & could not give in...
And we never learned what we could have been...
Because we weren't completed -
We WERE only shadows...
We were almost defeated & we had our own battles...
And one compromise may have saved or destroyed us...
We couldn't risk it -
We could not enjoy us -
But maybe that's best for we both did survive...
Time healed our wounds & made these ghosts alive...
And now when I see him,
though never for long...
He smiles at me as though nothing is wrong...
Like we weren't almost lovers who couldn't quite make it...
Like we woke from a dream though I can't seem to shake it...
But I know that our phantoms rejoiced when they ended...
So I smile back at the boy I've befriended.

- For Joseph Allan Petri -
I'm so beyond glad that we made it this far &
it's so very kewl to see you smile.
I never gave up on you, but
I never got your number... Things worked out ok though.
Be Happy.
