SUNSHINE SPREAD
The boy was afraid,
They taught him to fear...
The boy feared The Devil
had made the boy queer...
For who but The Devil
could give him this pleasure...
The pleasure the boy
now secretly treasured.
For one night he spread
and he touched himself there...
One night he stayed
wide awake after prayer...
One night
changed his world
as he bit into knowledge...
A secret he kept
until roommate in college
spread him again
and shared with him:
heaven...
It wasn't The Devil,
It wasn't a demon,
It wasn't an angel,
It wasn't his God,
For God wasn't real
and the boy wasn't flawed...
The boy wasn't damaged,
The boy wasn't dim...
The boy was enraptured,
The boy had been captured...
Sunshine spread open
poured out from within...
And within the boy's heart,
he did finally win.
