JAMES LYONS

I looked up your name
at random today...
I thought you were someone else.

25 days
since you died of AIDS...
I'm in shock and I don't know myself.

You inspired a youth
to tell his own truth
by a lie that you lived on screen.

Though I never met you
I won't forget you...
Why does this feel like a dream?

The day that you died
a friend sat beside me
and watched television for hours...

And I didn't know
because I didn't go
and I guess that means more
than just flowers.
