KEVIN CLARK:

I met Kevin Clark in June 2002, but I'd been hearing about him for 2 years prior to our first meeting.  I first heard about him through Shawn Foreman in 2000, and then through Laurie Prator, Amber Hatt & Maggie Ernst.  I knew they were all friends with him, and that he had been ill for a long period of time, having been told by doctors more than once that he was going to die, only to go on living.  He sounded amazing, and it was obvious that his friends really cared about him.  I was a bit worried that we wouldn't get along, but from the moment we met, we got along famously, though the same could not be said about me & his bitch girlfriend.  I didn't get to know Kevin as well as I would have liked; he died in late September 2004.  I got to see him more often than many of his closer friends in the weeks before he died, as he was hospitalized just a few blocks from where I live.  I'd experienced the death of friends, but it hardly made those weeks any easier than before.  I promised myself that I'd do anything that I could for him, and I did.  And he thanked me.  And I got to say goodbye.  And I'm grateful for all of that.
