STEVEN JOHN BALL:

I met Steve Ball back in August of 2000, at the Nectarine Ballroom in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We dated for about a month, but it just didn't work out. I lost touch with him for several years, and then felt like writing about him again in 2006, so I did. I like to make sure that whoever I'm writing about is given a chance to read what I've written, so I googled him, and found his e-mail address, sending him copies of the 2 new poems & some old photographs. We arranged a couple of meetings, and it was really great seeing him again, though it was a bit odd to be in my bedroom, just chatting with someone I'd been lovers with so long ago; it was very surreal, as if we'd gone back in time. He did tell me that it was great to see me, and that he appreciated my poetry now, in a way that he couldn't have before. We have remained in touch since then, and as of February 2007, that seems likely to continue, which pleases me.
