I read the Chronicles of Narnia when I was in middle school & have fond memories of the series. I used to watch the animated "The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe" with my sisters, though the live action versions that arrived later in life were just creepy. I wish I could find the animated version; even though the animation leaves something to be desired, my beat up TV recorded VHS copy is on it's last legs, and it would be nice to have on DVD as a reminder of my youth. The series of books were released in the 1950's, and while it's Christian symbolism is at times hokey, simplistic, & appropriately fun; the books are always a reminder of my hokey, simplistic, & Christian upbringing - in which I sometimes had fun. There was also a series of "choose-your-own-adventure" type books that took place in Narnia, which my sister and I enjoyed reading, but they seem to be impossible to find now.
The Chronicles were, oddly enough, not released in chronological order; though at the time, figuring out what order they took place in was part of the "fun". I've since seen boxed sets with the books in the order that they take place, which is how I will list them here.
The Chronicles tell of a magical land called Narnia, created by a talking Lion named Aslan, who is a kind of guardian figure throughout each of the 7 volumes. These are -
