I wait, watching

Travis Kelley

06/27/01

In the early hours of the morning

When liquid silence ebbs over the ground

I sit at my computer

Cold and slowed

Eager for slumber

For dreams

Yet I wait, watching.

In the heat of the day

When molten sunshine burns into the earth

I sit at my computer

Heated and delusional

Hungry for ice pops

And dewdrops

Yet I wait, watching

In the calming of the evening

On the last sweet spray of endings

I sit at my computer

Yearning for a new day

Replenishment, restoration, and rebirth

To begin my journey anew

Yet I wait, watching

I watch for your presence

For the touchkissfuck of your words

The eternal pleasure of songs unsung

Yet we both sing the tune to ourselves

Blatant disregard for distance

Or age

Or sex?

I suppose this is my problem

Just as love crowns me in glory

At the same time it also nails me to a cross

But I will wait, watching.

No matter what the cost.
