LAST NIGHT'S MAGIC

So last night I wandered downtown

to the Aut bar... Where friends welcomed

me in & a beautiful boy's beautiful poetry

filled me & ripped me away with bloody

fingertips stretched wide & empty...

The tears in those phrases of lust & ache

& want & hurt & blinding desire were honest

& rhythmic & so much more than I expected

from one lovely Saline High Schooler who knocked

me so hard back into my angst ridden gothboy

nightmares that I couldn't breathe weep cry escape...

My arms refused to block my ears & save my soul

from the voice

the song

the lilting sorrow of smiling stage boy.

My ears refused to be distracted...

My eyes refused to blink or waiver from

the truth of him.

That truth was magical...

& now it is mine.

The boy who's poem rocked me

beyond the telling of it.
