My Heartbeat is the Rhythm…To the Music in Your Soul
By Travis Kelley, July 15, 2001
Sunlit faces
Sweet embraces
Ego-races
But just for fun
Never ending
Money spending
Message sending
To your brain
Pizza houses
Light blue couches
Big big “ouches”
(I poked your eye!)
Watching your movie
You look right though me
You will consume me
Later that night
“No lights on, please”
You’re such a tease
Used the moment to seize
All that I could
Went *four* hours
Love’s sweet powers
It never sours
Only gets sweeter
Then we awoke
“I need a coke”
Jeez. I’m flat broke
But rich in love
Watched the finale
Death (?) to Glory?!
Willow is the story
She made it all possible
Time to go
(My moms such a hoe)
I’ll be back, though
A.S.A.P.
Talk on the web
My face turning red
From the things that you said
They are so scandalous!
Lots of good times
Lots of good rhymes
Each day my mind finds
The man of my dreams
But then it went wrong
No more poem, no more song
Just the silence of the qualm
When you left me on the internet
Much shame and much hurt
Went from flying to dirt
Went from fresh to “needing a Cert…”
(That means it went sour)
I wrote all these things
Because my heart still rings
And my mind still sings
To the tune of your love
All this indecision
From love’s dank, dark prison
But my heartbeat is the rhythm
To the music in your soul
And I’ll follow through
On my promises to you
If you ever only knew…
How much I really love you
I know I’m just a boy
And just a silly toy
But now I’m not being coy,
Will you please take me back?
