REGRETS AT SUNSET

Laying down on the beach

as the light fades away...

Sick with the knowledge

that I can't stay & play...

I can't travel back

& I must travel forward...

Waving goodbye

as the waves travel shorward...

I regret that I never

played with that boy...

I never kissed him;

I never toyed

with his body so rich

& desired by me...

I never played band with him...

I never tanned with him...

I never ran with him -

Naked & free...

I never allowed us

to become or discuss

what we never became -

what I wanted to be...

So I'll never know...

Was it only a show?

Did he want what I wanted?

Or was it only just me?
