I first picked up one of Piers Anthony's Xanth novels when I was in middle school, and searching desperately for something fun to read. The book I picked up was "Heaven Cent", which had a mermaid on the cover and introduced me to the magical world of Xanth. The book wasn't my idea of a great book at the time because there was just way too much humor, & I liked my books to be dark and brooding (like the boys I lusted after!). But years later I picked up another Xanth novel only to fall in love with the humor, which made me laugh out loud when I needed to, so very badly. I have yet to read the entire series... Though I intend to someday... But I tell my friends of the adventures that I've read and the things that made me smile.
