ALIAS began September 30, 2001; I happened to catch the first episode & I was hooked right off... I loved the main character, as she was so smart smart & very strong. The series star, Jennifer Garner won a Golden Globe for her role as Sydney Bristow [see her above], while the entire cast was on hand to receive The Peoples' Choice Award for Season 1 ;-0) I loved the first season of Alias, but the 2nd season actually outdid it, and remains my favorite of it's 5 season run. Season 3 was pretty rocky, but had it's own rewards - though it introduced a major flaw in it's mythology that has never been acknowledged or rectified. Season 4 was an improvement on Season 3 (but still not as good as the first 2 seasons in my opinion, though it came close towards the end), & it contained some truly outstanding episodes that ranked with the very best. Season 5 continues to be less than Season 2's greatness, though it improved mid season, before finally crashing and burning in the finale. The show peaked in Season 2 and never again reached such heights, though I still consider the pilot episode to be the best pilot of any series I've ever seen.
It would have been nice if they'd resolved the HUGE plot hole from the end of Season 3 - involving Vaughn's father saving Nadia from Katya, when Vaughn's father had already been killed by Irina, before she faked her death and gave birth to Nadia!?! I can't believe no one on the show noticed this, or found a way to fix it. It pisses me off.... They also never resolved Evil Francie's storyline, even though the brought the actress back for the finale, in a 'flashback' that made little to no sense. And the prophecy from the show's early seasons seemed about to be fulfilled in a truly ingenious way, and then the writers dropped the ball.
I'll always look back on the series as an entertaining, if flawed creation - which for 2 years was nearly perfect in every way, but which faltered as it continued.
