I saw the movie Stargate in theaters with my then boyfriend, Gene Warrick, and our friend Dorine Redcloud.  I really enjoyed the movie at the time, but resisted the idea of a series spun off from the movie, and who'd blame me; it seldom if ever works out; Buffy & M.A.S.H. being exceptions.  I've caught an episode or two at random, and I haven't really loved it, but I have friends who are devoted to it, and I'd probably enjoy it if I actually had time for it; maybe someday that will happen.  Though I don't understand how Farscape, which seems vastly more original and interesting was cancelled and this show survived.  And while I know it was a ratings kind of deal, that doesn't help me understand why people watched Stargate SG-1 over Farscape.  I didn't really watch either, but from what I did see, Farscape was/is the superior program, and I'll invest in the more expensive Farscape DVDs before I give in to this one.
