THE LEFT HAND OF DESTINY, BOOKS ONE & TWO by J.G. Hertzler & Jeffrey Lang

These novels (which take place only days after DS9 #175-176: WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND, PARTS I & II) feature Alexander, Ezri Dax, Drex (Martok's son seen in DS9 #073: WAY OF THE WARRIOR, PART I), Emperor Kahless (seen in TNG #149: RIGHTFUL HEIR), Chancellor Martok, Sirella (Martok's wife seen in DS9 #131: YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED...), & Worf (plus cameos by others, such as Kira & Admiral Ross) in an epic story about Martok & Worf's return to Qo'noS, the Klingon homeworld, only to face a devastating challenge featuring the Hur'q (as mentioned in ENT #091: AFFLICTION [PART I], DS9 #081: THE SWORD OF KAHLESS, & The Lost Era novel: THE ART OF THE IMPOSSIBLE).  Much of the action is split between Qo'noS...& Boreth (also seen in TNG #149: RIGHTFUL HEIR), with a couple of scenes taking place on DS9 itself.  The epilogue of BOOK TWO takes place after THE LIVES OF DAX, but can be read before it, with no problem, and the way the book is written, it's more satisfying to do so.  But I'd recommend rereading the epilogue of BOOK TWO after finishing the Dax anthology.

THE LIVES OF DAX: "SECOND STAR TO THE RIGHT..." "...& STRAIGHT ON 'TIL MORNING" by Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens

THE LIVES OF DAX is an anthology centered on the hosts of the Dax symbiont.  The first & final entries in the book center on Ezri (the current Dax host), and take place several weeks after DS9 #175-176: WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND, PARTS I & II, and just before the epilogue of THE LEFT HAND OF DESTINY, BOOK TWO.  In this story Ezri is on the holosuite and tells the story of her joining to Vic Fontain.  Through this telling we learn the previously hidden circumstances of Ezri's joining, learn more about her relationship with Brinner Finok (previously mentioned in DS9 #161: PRODIGAL DAUGHTER) and we experience what Ezri experienced when she gained all the memories of the previous hosts.  Each of the 8 stories found between the two Ezri bookends focus on a different Dax host: Leela, Tobin, Emony, Audrid, Torias, Joran, Curzon & Jadzia.  These stories are shared as examples of what Ezri gained through her joining, and how confusing it all was.  The stories feature a wide range of Trek characters; for further details see the BOOKS TO READ BEFORE THE RELAUNCH section; the Dax Stories are listed in chronological order in that section.  At least 3 of the 10 stories are referenced or fleshed out in later DS9 Relaunch novels, and I can't stress enough how helpful prior knowledge of this book is to the later adventures.

STAR TREK - OTHER REALITIES: N-VECTOR {GRAPHIC NOVEL} by K. W. Jeter

A mostly lame comic story centered on a N-Vector "viroid" incident; featuring most of the DS9 crew, including the first post DS9 story for O'Brien, with truly horrendous artwork.  This story is really only noteworthy for it's introduction of Bolian Starfleet Commander Tiris Jast, who's been assigned command of the starship USS Defiant; Jast returns in the MAXIMUM WARP duology, before her final appearance in the first official relaunch novel, AVATAR, BOOK ONE; these Pre-Official-Relaunch stories give the reader a deeper appreciation of this character, and give the DS9 Relaunch even more depth; too bad this installment isn't more worthy of praise.
