Last Full Measure by Michael A. Martin & Andy Mangels is something of a missed opportunity.  The book was meant to tell an untold story of Enterprise's 3rd Season, which featured a complex season long story arc, and remains my favorite of the tv series' 4 seasons.  I thought a new story added to this section of Enterprise, giving even more depth & character development to the best season of Trek since DS9's apex years before, was a fantastic idea, but that it would have to be handled carefully, as the season long arc was packed with stories as is and the continuity was such that it might be hard to insert a tale successfully.  When I heard that Michael A. Martin & Andy Mangels were writing the adventure though, I stopped worrying.  These guys have written some of the best Trek books in the last few years, and beyond that, as a gay fan I've always found their inclusiveness to be very gratifying.  The books by them that I've enjoyed include all of their Trek titles, excluding Last Full Measure, and I look forward to reading any future Treks by them, as they've proven, at least to me, that the failures of Last Full Measure are something of an unfortunate fluke.  Here are some of their other Trek novel contributions:

Last Full Measure features a prologue & epilogue, both set 85 years after the main portion of the book.  I don't have any problems with these sections, though some might.  To read why I enjoy those sections compared to the rest of the book you can click here.

The rest of this section is forthcoming...
