I almost always try to shop online. I hate shopping malls; I don't like the people or the atmosphere, or the driving to & from. Shopping online is easy, convenient, quick and painless. Plus I can shop naked and who doesn't love that?
I've done a disturbing amount of business at Amazon. I frequently purchase compact discs, books, DVDs, graphic novels, and any number of other random merchandise from them. They're uncomplicated, quick to respond to any problems or questions I have, and everything I order arrives on my doorstep in a timely fashion. That said, I detest their customer reviews, which are often filled with spoilers for movies and novels; and are often written by people who obviously have no knowledge of the product they are attempting to describe, compliment, or berate. A while back I became an Amazon Associate, so I could use their images on my webpage to demonstrate exactly what I was babbling about, and to provide a link directly to any object I was praising or bitching about; just to give anyone visiting my webpage a little more insight. A side benefit of this has been that when anyone uses one of my links (excluding the one above) and then purchases the item found there, I'm given a small percentage of the sale. I'm only paid quarterly for this and it's always a random sort of surprise, but it's a nice one.
Goth Zone is a great online store that's just starting out; think Hot Topic with less overall pretense. I'm friends with the owner, and his line of "hug monster" clothing was inspired by me.
