Bald Jason's Musings
Sunday, April 24, 2011
I had a really great day with Mark yesterday. We got some
cleaning done in the condo. We went to Little Caesars and
then watched the new Doctor Who together (6x01 The
Impossible Astronaut) which was FANTASTIC; more on that
in a bit. Then Mark & I took a walk. It had been in the 70's
earlier but it was cooling down so we dressed more
warmly and headed downtown. I love those walks we take;
they're so relaxing and they just feel like they're good for
us. I always feel really good afterwards. We took pictures
of each other. I later took more of me. Eventually I passed
out, but only for a few hours. I went to bed around 1am
and then woke around 4:30am. I'm sure I'll sleep more
later.Lots of Doctor Who rambling to follow.
So, about the Doctor Who episode. I knew some stuff
about it before it aired, but most of it I didn't...and even
the things I did know didn't spoil much as I've managed to
avoid most of the big stuff. I knew that certain events
would happen but I didn't know why or how or in what
way they were connected and I didn't know the dialogue -
which is cool because the dialogue in this episode was
awesome. So...I really liked it....HOWEVER, there were
MANY QUESTIONS RAISED in this one. It's a multipart
story, but I think most of the questions raised here won't
be answered until the end of the season. And there's a
question raised in this for me, which I'm not sure is a
major question to the writers...which they may not
explain, but it's the one I most want answered. If they
answer my question (and the others, which I'm sure they'll
answer the other ones as they kind of have to) then I'll
give this episode the highest marks possible, and it will
have thankfully continued the trend that began with
"Vincent & the Doctor" - as I've pretty much loved all of
the 11th Doctor stories, starting with that episode. I think
they MIGHT answer my question, as I went to a Doctor
Who forum and it's not just me who's confused by this
thing that happens... Actually I can post here what this
one question is - which if you've seen it you know, and if
you haven't - well it's not a huge spoilery thing - in fact, I
wish it was one of the things that I'd known before seeing
it.Ok. So when the episode begins, Amy & Rory are no
longer traveling with the Doctor, and they haven't been
with him for 2 months. But why did they leave him? It's not
because they're married now because they left with him
"The Big Bang" after they married. And I doubt it was the
honeymoon as Amy & Rory had a honeymoon we saw, and
at least 1 more that we didn't see and another one that
was suggested - and they were all alien spaceship / planet
sort of things - I doubt they then settled on Earth. Also,
they were so keen on going with the Doctor that a 2
month break seems odd. And it doesn't seem like they had
a falling out because they're more than happy to reunite
with him. It just feels like we're missing this big chunk of
story, which I wasn't prepared for. I just assumed it would
begin with Amy & Rory in the TARDIS with the Doctor, and
then River Song would be brought in and go from
there...but instead they did this. Hopefully we find out
why...because out of all the CRAZY, ASTOUNDING things
that happen in the episode and all the questions raised for
the characters - this is the one I most want answered. Also, it's really hard for me to sort of guess at how the
season plays out now, because I have no idea if those final
3 Sarah Jane stories are going to air this fall. And
assuming they do, will they film some more that don't
feature Sarah Jane with a plot device to flesh out the
season? Will they just give us those 3 stories and that will
be the end of the series? Or will something big happen
that transforms the show into a new form? I don't have
these answers. Also, it's possible, though not incredibly likely, that Jack
might appear later in the season - and if he does, which I
somehow doubt, but if he does and it takes pace after
"Miracle Day" then I'll have to incoporate the new season
of Torchwood. So...yeah...I won't have the keys to this
season for a long while yet. I do look forward to finding
out the answers though.Oh. And they used Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" song in a
scene, which I've been listening to almost constantly
lately, so that made me smile. Also, I love River Song. Her
story arc is just brilliant and they played some stuff up
that just rocks. I'm pretty sure this new episode takes
place AFTER "The Pandorica Opens" / "The Big Bang", not
just for the Doctor, Amy & Rory but for River as well -
which is the first time that's happened. The reason why
this most likely takes place after is because River knows
Rory in this installment when she didn't know him in the
other story, and she also traveled through time without
any problems so she probably still has the Vortex
Manipulator that she acquired in the other story as
well...though her outfit in the episode didn't make that
very clear. And I'm starting to suspect that from her
perspective this takes place AFTER her other appearance
last season just based on some of her dialogue here,
along with her dialogue in "Flesh & Stone" & "The Big
Bang" - though this isn't certain. So, I THINK that from
River's perspective the story goes like this:01 The Pandorica Opens
02 The Big BangIn 'The Big Bang' River tells the Doctor that he's going to
find out quite soon now who she is. Meaning that maybe
from her perspective, the next time they meet that she
knows of is the day he finds out who she is. This definitely
feels like her earliest appearance thus far.03 The Time of Angels
04 Flesh and StoneIn 'Flesh & Stone" River says the the Doctor will see her
again when the Pandorica opens and that she remembers
it well - meaning this is very clearly set after that event for
her.05 The Impossible Astronaut
06 Day of the MoonIn 'The Impossible Astronaut' River foreshadows the
events of 'Silence in the Library' / 'Forest of the Dead',
which we can all but assume is her last encounter with the
Doctor - and his first encounter with her. Also, River's
recognition of Rory & her time travel tells us this is set
AFTER 'The Pandorica Opens' / 'The Big Bang'.07 Silence in the Library
08 Forest of the DeadThe Doctor meets River for the first time, as River meets
the Doctor for the last. Though there is some wiggle room
for them to possibly encounter each other again. Her
physical body dies in the episode but she's saved to a data
core that the Doctor could possibly access after he knows
in her timeline she's entered the library and met her fate
there and they could finally be in the same frame of
reference. This order could be right. Or it's possible that 'The Time of
Angels' / 'Flesh and Stone' take place after 'Impossible
Astronaut' / 'Day of the Moon'. It's hard to say at this
point. Also, if they DO explain why Amy & Rory aren't in the
TARDIS for 2 months...AND they air the rest of The Sarah
Jane Adventures without filming anymore installments,
AND Torchwood does NOT crossover with Who this year
then this is my best guess for how Season 32 plays out
(with the exclusion of the mini-adventures of "Space",
"Time", "Prequel 02" "Prequel 03" or the 2011 Christmas
Special as those installments can't be placed until we have
more info but shouldn't cause too much trouble when they

I think I've solved another Doctor Whoniverse season
conundrum, with some wiggle room to provide more playing
off between the shows. And the simple answer: Torchwood. :)
I'm in a good mood for having slept so little. I'm hoping to
have a great day. :)

I took a brief nap, then Mark & I went for a walk and took
more pictures. It was fun. Mark & I both got headaches later
though and ended up not doing much more. I got a call from
Travis but got disconnected. On a positive note the Jason /
Mark headaches are gone. I'm very tired and may sleep soon.

Monday is just a blur. I didn't sleep all day. I got some stuff
done and learned a new skill, but I had another bad headache
and the pain killer knocked me out a few times. I had really
odd, yet very good dreams. I also watched the first 2
episodes of Season 29 of the Whoniverse, which are the first
2 episodes of Torchwood. I have to pick Mark up from work
around 1pm to take him to a doctor's appointment; he's had
some pain; I hope it's nothing too horrible and that he feels
better soon. I still feel a bit out of it.

Shortly after the last entry I left Nick a voicemail, which he
liked. We traded some texts. His family was in town this
weekend, and he's got finals this week so he's a bit busy.I shaved and showered and got Mark to his doctor's
appointment. I stayed in the car and called people: Travis,
Jennifer, Amber, Janice. Travis and Jennifer didn't answer
though I left them both voicemails. Amber answered but
she was at work and couldn't talk long. Janice sounded
exhausted...and she is. Apparently Jerry's father died
recently, which I didn't know because I have her Facebook
posts blocked from view. I did that last year when she was
posting a lot of anti-abortion stuff which offends me, but I
told her I blocked those posts and that if she wanted me
to know something to message me about it, but she
assumed that I'd recinded that situation because I'd
commented on something she posted - but only because I
saw her post on a friend's page and thought to visit hers
to see what was up at the time. Anyways, she's super
stressed out - and it shows, even in her voice. I guess Dad
wants to hang out with us and she's hoping that I'll hang
out with him on my own as she's being pulled in a million
different directions at once.Later, still waiting for Mark I took some pictures of myself.
Mark returned to the car. He was sad because his back
problems have returned. He was hoping he had a kidney
stone - which I told him would have been horribly painful,
but you know, he wanted it to be something other than
this recurring back trouble that he's had since he fell on
the ice several years ago...because it's been awhile since it
hurt and the idea of something that comes back again and
again is worse for him than something that could
potentially be over in a week or two. I tried to cheer him
up.We went to Meijer but they didn't have what we needed so
we went to CVS, then Little Caesars, then Mark's bank.
Mark deposited his big tax return check. He's going to use
the money to buy new wheels for the car (which will
hopefully help us out because the car is always getting flat
tires and the wheels will be a version that aren't damaged
when you get a flat) - then he's gonna take whatever's left
and put half of that in the bank for savings, then he's
gonna split whatever is left with me.Still no word on my benefits and what's going on there.
Really getting stressed about that, though I'm trying hard
not to be.I took more pictures later. Mark started helping me with a
project, and then again went to eat and never came back
as he said he would (just like the night before) - but I was
asleep and maybe he just didn't want to wake me. I think I
slept from about 11pm-5:30am. I started downloading
last night's glee and reading the news. I read some Doctor
Who news but could see that it was getting into spoilers
that I'm trying to avoid so I shut that down. Then I wrote
this.

Wednesday I watched Glee twice. Once in the morning,
and then that night with Mark. It's a very cool episode, yet
the removal of trans references for a 2nd time this season
is starting to irk me. The show is extreamly diverse with at
least 3 gay characters, 1 lesbian character, 1 bisexual
character and at least 2 more unseen gay characters who
are the parents of a main character. There's also an out
gay actor playing an out gay teen, and an out lesbian
actress playing a straight coach - both of whom have won
Golden Globes for their performances. So it's hard to
complain, yet the lack of Trans references, and overt
removal of lyrics about them in songs the Glee club
performs feels off...and it doesn't feel right. I doubt it's
the cast or writers who have this problem, and I'm sure it's
not show creator Ryan Murphy, who's previous series
Nip/Tuck and several major trangendered roles, with at
least 3 recurring characters who were trans. It has to be
the network. Anyways - I hope they get over this somehow
becuase it's just weird when they sing songs that have
lyrics referencing the transgendered and those lyrics are
the ones that are cut from broadcast. Not cool.Wednesday, I also continued to work on some projects but
time in general seemed to fly.Thursday I was hoping to visit my sister and my
grandmother but then my stomach was really bothering
me so I took one of my old meds but I'd forgotten then
when you aren't taking them constantly, they knock you
on your ass. lol. Ugh. I did get some good news later
though - my food assitence went through so I'll be fed for
another year. I don't have bills...and I have a tiny, tiny bit
of money now, so I'm good for now, and that's fantastic. I
watched the first 2 episodes of Season 7 of Desperate
Housewives, which were ok, though the series doesn't feel
fresh at all anymore...it's not terrible, but it's lost it's shine
and should probably have ended by now, though I know
they've renewed it for an 8th season and are hoping for a
9th. I'd rather they just make the 8th season a big finale to
the series...and maybe it will be. Who knows?Friday I finished burning some discs for my cousin Michael
and took a check from me & Mark to my sister Janice,
paying her back the money that she'd loaned us when we
were in dire need. It felt good to not only know that she
was there for us, but also to get her money back to her
earlier than she asked for it (she gave us until August), but
also in a time in which she could really use it. I love her.Janice ended up not being at her new house, but at our
grandmother's. I went there and saw Janice, our father
Doug, our grandparents, and Janice's son Jonathan. The
visit wasn't long, which was fine because my grandparents
have a cat and I'm allergic. I also realized that I'd forgotton
to put on sunblock, which is superbad for me. I gave the
discs for Michael to my grandmother who'll pass them on
to Michael's mom, my Aunt Marge, who didn't seem to be
home when I checked.I headed home, trying to stay out of the sun as much as
possible. I ate. I watched some "Nikita"; I've got one more
to watch an I'll be caught up on that. It hasn't been
cancelled, yet it hasn't been renewed either. If it is
cancelled, then including the episode I've not watched
there are only 3 episodes left. It's a fun show, though the
similarities to ALIAS are a bit annoying sometimes...at
least it doesn't have the Rambaldi mystical crap storyline -
which was fun on ALIAS until it became like the central
focus of the series. Oh. I also watched the most recent
episode of Nurse Jackie sometime this week. I thought I'd
be annoyed watching that series one episode at a time
(because I consumed the first 2 seasons in like 36 hours)
but I actually like it. I'm not happy when an episode ends,
but it's like a fun little treat for me.Anyways...it's Friday. It doesn't feel like Friday. But it is.
New Doctor Who tomorrow. Actually, a new episode, and a
new mini-episode, so 2 installments tomorrow. And all I
seem to talk about is television, but I like TV and I like
catching up on stuff...and I'm gonna enjoy it. lol.It was nice outside today, but a little cool. I'm sure it will
warm up a bit more soon and hopefully it will be nice
enough for some more walks.Oh. Also, an 18yo kid hit on me this week, which was
sweet, but I turned him down. On one hand I'm still
hoping things happen with Nick. And on the other, my
oldest nephew turned 17 last weekend and the thought of
dating someone in his age group is kind of creepy. lol. I've
traded some texts today with my online friend Donnie,
who's birthday is today. My ex-bf Travis had a birthday
this week and we talked a bit yesterday. He's got a new bf
type person, and he's getting into BSG. All good. I might
call Travis in a bit as he said he'd be free today and I want
an update on what he's watched.I've not seen Michael in person in over a month. This
pleases me. No more Michael drama. :)

I had a good (if unexciting) night. I had a full meal without
getting sick :) I caught up on Nikita, which had a killer
cliffhanger. There are 2 more episodes to air. And then I
slept really well.Oh. But something really cool happened last night. I got a
letter from my old bank and it had a check with it. They
refunded pretty much all the money they stole from me!!!
That's money I never thought I'd see again and though it's
not much, it's a nice bonus. It's just over a hundred
dollars. Nice. :)Probably gonna deposit that today. There are 2 new
Doctor Whoniverse installments today:Doctor Who 6x02 Day of the Moon [Part III]
Doctor Who Mini-Special - Prequel 02 [Part I]Looking forward to those. Saw a clip from the new season
of Torchwood and now I'm really looking forward to that,
even more so than Who or what remains of Sarah Jane.I also talked to Travis again. He was just about to finish
the first season of BSG and given the cliffhanger ending of
those episodes I suspsect he probably watched at least a
bit of Season 2. lol.

So...Doctor Who. 6x02 Day of the Moon [Part III] was good.
But much like the previous episode, a lot of it is unexplained,
so a lot of the enjoyment of the episode is going to depend
on what is explained later on. Yet, also like the previous
episode there were moments that were AWESOME. So...it's
trick. The 'Prequel' episode to next weeks installment was
actually pretty impressive and has me excited to see that one
as well. Very much looking forward to all new Whoniverse
episodes this year.Mark went for a walk with his friend Libby and they stopped
by here and I got to meet her.Earlier, Mark & I went to pick up his pants from the tailor and
then to Kroger, only Kroger was so packed that we skipped it
and went to Little Caesars. The foods was good. I watched
another episode of Desperate Housewives...and again, there's
nothing wrong here, except the show feels exactly the same
as it did 7 years ago...which was impressive then, but is just
sort of getting by now.Blah. I'm suddenly sleepy and might take a nap.
