Slept until about 2:30am. Got some Facebook messages from Josh Gerding. Replied. Did Farm Town stuff. Chatted with Chris Gordenier. Had a shake and worked on my DCAU page which...I MAY have found an order for years 1996-1998. I say maybe because I could find some flaw in it, though I think it's harder to place these episodes, not because you could get so much wrong, but simply because most of them could go in any order and I had to find an order that I like, while following the basic continuity that exists there. I do have to make some checks...and then probably watch everything, which will take a long while.
I slept more. Woke up feeling gassy. Fun. lol
New Predators TV Spot:
Here's an alternate trailer for the 2-part finale of Who. Don't watch it unless you're all caught up as it shows a lot of what's come to pass of late and you'll be spoiled:
And here's the longer, even more spoiler-ridden version that aired after the last episode (5x11 "The Lodger"):
Also, for the record, this is how the season stands at this point:
5x01 The Eleventh Hour ****
5x02 The Beast Below **
5x03 Victory of the Daleks *
5x04 The Time of Angels [Part I] ***
5x05 Flesh and Stone [Part II] ***
5x06 The Vampires of Venice ***
5x07 Amy's Choice ***
5x08 The Hungry Earth [Part I] ***
5x09 Cold Blood [Part II] ***
5x10 Vincent and the Doctor ****
5x11 The Lodger ****I'm hearing rumors that the finale will tie into all 11 previous episodes in amazing ways; if true and the finale is brilliant, these final episodes could raise the star ratings of the previous episodes involved...or if the finale sucks, this bit of continuity could possibly lower them.
I must stress that I enjoy 5x02 'The Beast Below' aside from some ANNOYING editing / script stumbles and the talking down to the audience. That must sound odd to say that about the episode and claim to enjoy it, but I do. I'm just used to my Doctor Who being better produced - and my Steven Moffat episodes to be BRILLIANT (all episodes written by him previous to this one have gotten **** or ***** so this was a big let down)
'Victory of the Daleks' was mostly lame and then EXTREMELY bad.
'The Time of Angels' / 'Flesh & Stone' would be 4 or 5 star episodes except they ignore a bit of Weeping Angel history and it grates on my nerves - but everything else about those episodes is fabulous, including River Song who comes of extremely well, which is why the episodes get *** stars, even with the major flaw. Again, these episodes had HIGH expectations based on who was writing them, but aside from the one flaw they're pretty awesome - there are scenes in here between River & 11, between 11 & Amy that I love.
The other *** episodes are all fine episodes; they're not terrible...they're just not great. They actually remind me of Classic Who a lot.
The 4 **** episodes are all very enjoyable IMO, yet there's the sense they could be slightly improved. But I'm extremely happy with them as is. I'm hoping the finale will explain a lot...I know it's got TONS of fanwank / continuity porn which I love, I just hope it wraps up this season's story to my satisfaction...while possibly setting up the Christmas Special (I hear it does) or the side trip to Sarah Jane (I here it doesn't, which makes sense).
I just downloaded the Season 3 premiere of True Blood, but I don't think I'll be watching it just yet as I'm consumed by DCAU & Doctor Who.
